I'm making a site for me and some techie chums at Uni, and if it takes off it could be quite big. I've made a small logo/header for the top of the page, with the site name on, looks a bit pretty etc... My problem is that I can either use a gif animation, which in my opinion is a bit tacky, but does the job well, quick and you don't need a plug in to view it, or a Flash anim that loads in more or less the same time, and might be seen as a bit more...good? It'll load in about 2 seconds either way, but I'm not sure which method is more acceptable to use. Suggestions?

*sigh* For those that didn't read the original post, and then when I said it again later - it'll look exactly the same!!!111!11

Also, I never realised that about the caching - good advice!

Use the gif if they both look the same.

It'll be stored in cache and load faster the next time.

Yes. The first thing in the html you should do is detect. I think it takes you to a webpage to get the plugin if you don't have it. But i'm sure there is someway of just making it a gif image.

I'd go for flash because alot of the timer it DOES look better. But then it all depends on what you made the logo thing with and how good it looks.

Yeah, but it's not 100%, which would be useful for the site.
