Received my pay-packet today and found I got charged Tax. Now correct me if i'm wrong - but I swear i'm not to be charged tax until I turn 18.
My parents say I should be ble to claim it back - But I dunno where to start/who to contact.
So I put this predicament forward to the forum - can anyone help?
I got my first pay about ten minutes ago, and got charged tax too.
Bleh.
Yeah, they said I should just fill out the P60 form and get it rebated. Not too hard really.
Not that I knew about this before... :D
Actually I did know about the P46 but I couldn't remember what it was called. (I didn't want gamezfreak to ask for a P45!)
I remember being put on emergency tax once. It was madness. But I got a sweet, sweet rebate in April.
There's a huge Inland Revenue complex in Nottingham. I live in nottingam.

They're actually quite quick and it only takes up to 14 days to receive the rebate whicjh come through your employer anyway. Your P60 gets issues automatically at the end of each fiscal year, you actually require a P46.
Be lucky your not paying emergency tax whilst its being sorted out as youd be paying it atthe default rate of 25%.

Hmm...that sounds about right. Ok, I'm off to throttle my mate - he's an accountant and told me that web of lies...

For the first £4365.00 you earn you do not have to pay any income tax at all, after that it's based on what your earn starting at 12-20% for anything up to £28,000 through to 40% for anything over £50,000pa
You commonly get charges income tax any way, but you will be able to claim it back next April when you receive your P60. Just drop those wonderful tax people a line and explain your situation, and if your in luck, you'll get a nice hefty rebate next year.
> If not, get in touch with them and tell them you shouldn't be paying tax.
I guess I should give the Inland Revenue a call then?
