My brother gets Nintendo Official Magazine through the post on it's date of publishing and when I read it I thought, "Yay-more N64 games previewed and even a Pokémon Gold Review!"

I got reading all the reviews and previews and took a look at the "Club Mario" section, laughed at Cardiff boy thinking that Links Ocarina in Majora's Mask is the one Saria gives him in Ocarina of time....

Then I saw something which I thought I'd never ever see in Nintendo's own Magazine:

Sonic and other Sega games printed on a whole page with an article about them!

Even though I already knew about Sega working on Gamecube and Gameboy Advance titles I was still amazed to see it in writing in Nintendo's own magazine!

It's a piece of gaming history! One of the most important pieces of history since Shiguru Miyamoto made the first ever platform game!

That issue of Nintendo Official Magazine is one to keep in a very safe place cos I can guarantee you wont see official gaming news like that for a long, long time!

Even the humble speccy was on its second model?

You're not mixing Platform game (which basically means Jump-&-Run) with platform, as in Console are you?

DK was officially the first ever game to feature Jump & Run, or better known today as "Platformer"

Ah, Jump and Run, those famous MCs collectively known as Platformer.

"Hi, I'm MC Jump and this is MC RUN"
"Lay another fat one on me...."
"Er, yeah, Thanks Run."

Edgy's right. If I recall correctly, the Platform Game got its name from the way in which the player had to jump onto one platform and then another, running throughout levels or maps. If I remember correctly, Mario's original name was Jumpman and he was initially meant to be a carpenter, not a plumber. Somewhere in the time between Donkey Kong (1981) and Super Mario Bros. (1983), Shigeru renamed him Mario, converted him to be a plumber, and gave him a little brother named Luigi.

BTW, there are some really great books regarding the history of videogames. [Please don't take this as a smartass remark, I really just think they're interesting to read about.]

Mc means "son of" when it's part of someone's surname so why would there be characters called "Son of Jump" and "Son of Run"?

That's why I prefer Burger King! :)

Plus if you look on my site in General Discussion you'll see why I prefer Burger King.

So that you don't have to search my site making it ocunt as advertising I'll put a link to the exact page:

http://server42.hypermart.net/ nintendo-rules/ubb/Forum1/HTML/ 000079-15.html

If you do take a look you have to get rid of the spaces in the link first.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
