I just wanted to say a little something.
I look around the forums of late and ALOT of new users are coming on the forums. Which is good - new generations and new people can be a great benefit for the SR community. New ideas, humour and aspects are introduced and I enjoy it.
But, We seem to have a conflict. Between old and new. The New users come on and as silly as it may seem they do not know of the SR world. How to act and post the way we do. They come in and use their txt language, make two sentence posts relating to nothing in block capitals. Obviously this will ennoy the regular users and they all join in group force abusing and generally being nasty singling these noobs out - or in some cases to retalliate and destroy it for the rest of us. Spamming the joint and getting themselves banned.
I just think - if some users when newer members start. If we just explained what we like and don't like so they are stopped in their tracks and eazed into the way we work gently things would run alot smoother for us, staff and the newer users. If we just cain immediatly and the same old thing happens, they spam wildly they'll get banned. If we maybe let them know first they wont do so. If they have been warned politely but are immature nerds which get there thrills from destroying everyone elses fun...they will be banned im sure by sir smuggly.
Come on guys. Im sure it will make it better for all of us?
Just a thought
Love ginge :)

Except he isn't putting any effort in, that's the whole point of txt tlk, I'm just saying that you can't be here less than a day and presume to judge people based on a few throwaway comments made in jest and sarcasm.
No one ever said you used txt tlk, but a lot of new people do, hence why he used it, and you don't know that because you've not been here long. The one thing you can guarantee on here is that if you call people stupid for little reason then be prepared. Just suddenly turning up and moaning at regulars does little - have a go at your own topic and stuff like that.
it just makes the person trying to be 'funny' look more stupid. As he is obviously trying to put quite a lot of effort into it.

Just saying I have seen it a few times today, and in my opinion it is the type of thing sad people wirte when they want to be funny.
it is sad.

Because it's funny and it's sarcastic, regulars know that we mostly hate text talk and use it only when we want to be sarcastic to others, hence because you are new you don't know that. And no one respects regulars really.

No
I've joiend today and so far I have seen quite a few of these 'funny' posts.
They are not funny, mayeb the 1st time but afetr seeing memornadum do about 2 of them, they are boring adn irrelevant.
Exactly what ginge is talkign about, I'm a newbie and you slate me.

arrr she loves me

Same here, if a new person asks a sensible question and I can help then I'll answer, or the same if they post a good topic I'll reply if it interests me. There is no need to explain to new people what is and is not acceptable because it is common sense and the forum rules are on the log in page anyway, or the front page, they're somewhere, even if most of us do ignore most of them and get away with it...
Maybe that's the problem, new people can post stupid topics and we jump on them, some regular does an equally crap topic and people join in and mess around or just ignore it - in rare cases (like Alec) enough people hate the said person to report the post to get them banned, but in situations like that it's more like playground fights than actually caring about what the person did.
And then we get all the time and effort going into all the "the forums are dying" "this is crap forum" "things were better when I had a 486" type topics which add to the general mess.
Oh well.

It's supposed to be funny. Being funny isn't pointless. It makes other people feel good, which makes you feel good... Now go away.

Look, you are supposed to eb a respected regular but why post uselss and stupid posts liek that?
