The "Freeola Customer Forum" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
The main winners are...
TGMBloke for his interactive video quiz, and...
Jim-hat and Chad Niga for their SR Lost Gameadays Adventure.
It's obvious that both of these games had hours and hours of effort poured into them, so it'd be criminal not reward the creators. You both get to choose a game of your choice up to the value of £50 (jim-hat and Chad will have to argue it out themselves).
And the runners-up are...
HalloHowArtThou for his excellent monkey SR adventure, and...
Mojojojo for his Spam Hard game
Again, it's great to see people putting real effort into these games and they were a cut above the rest. However, I can't give everyone who made a good game a full prize, so you two will have to make do with a game up to the value of £25.
Thanks again to everyone who entered, part of the reason this competition took so long to judge was because we were having so much fun playing all the games. Give yourself a big pat on the back everyone who entered (and we enjoyed the non-playable entries too, so don't think they went unnoticed). Scroll through this thread and you'll find links to all the winning entries eventually.
Thanks all!
Ali

Those of you who already have your Special Reserve club mags will be feeling a sense of smug satisfaction, but I thought I'd make it official and let all the monkeys on the chat forums know about the latest Extra Gameaday prize. If you want the game of your choice (up to the value of £50) then you'll have to design... Special Reserve: The Game!
We want you to use your extensive game knowledge and expertise to design a game based on Special Reserve! How far you want to take this simple premise is up to you, but the more imaginative efforts are more likely to be rewarded. You can simply jot down a few game ideas such as what kind of game it'll be, main characters, storylines etc. or you can even go further, draw pictures, design levels - it's totally up to you how far you want to take this thing!
What will it be? A Sims-style romp around Special Reserve Towers? A platformer starring our very own Tony? A resource-management set in our Sawbridgeworth store? The choice, as always, is down to you. You should write a short synopsis of your game, complete with characters, storyline and anything else of interest. You can supply illustrations, make flash animation or even (and it's a long shot) code a real game if you desire! Use your imagination and get your game on!
If the entries are good enough then we may think about multiple prizes for this one, and extra special efforts may win a bigger prize than normal, we'll see. You can enter in this thread if you want, post links to games/animations/images etc here, or put them on paper and send them to:
Special Reserve Marketing Department,
Make a Game competition,
2 South Block,
The Maltings,
Sawbridgeworth,
Herts,
CM21 9JX
All entries must be submitted by November 28th (posted entries must arrive on time) and hopefully we'll wade through the entries and pick a winner for Chrimble. Looking forward to seeing the entries to this one to be honest, you lot thrive on competitions where you have to flex your creative muscles!
Possible characters for your game:
Tony
Mr Snuggly
Loki
Darkus
Bob
Candyfloss
Any old staff members etc.

Yeah...I've tried to add more enemies, do incrementations so after a certain amount of kills your gun changes... but all to no prevail. So it's just a mindless blaster :-D

That sounds good! Don't forget to include bonuses for killing Fanboys, and you when you run out of ammo, just win some GADs and use them!
Each level could have a Notable as a sub-boss, packing dry humour and wit in their arsenal.
The Boss could then be a staffie - but be careful, they pack the deadly BAN Button!
Don't know where I got that short burst of idea-ness but that's it. My brain shouldn't even be working - I'm at work!

I knew it! My super-sleuthing skills are still up to scratch! :P
Is that how the game is meant to be? Non-stop hordes of gimps? Or can you progress? I never gave Iced much attention so never knew...
we can run around the sr stores killing people with weapons, and instead of just scoring frags we can score reddies, which the player can save up and use to buy more guns andpowerups and stuff like that.
Scenario:
Perhaps not the most likely of places, but it seems that Bob has been stranded in the treacherous lands of ice. I'm not sure where... but it cold, that's for sure! On his travels he'll come across such locales as the Jungle, Mountains, the Ocean and other such tropics in search of... something I'll think of later.
Stroyline:
After a less-than-stellar SR update, it seems that Tony has cast Bob aside and sent him off to be mauled by many hungry things. Was Bob possessed? Or perhaps it was a robot who made that shoddy website. No, he just couldn't be bothered, after constant slave-driving work, Bob just didn't have the energy to do his best. But as he travels to SR in order to exact his revenge, things get a little more sinister. It turns out an Ex-Staff member has trapped Tony and taken over SR. He has also come up with a way to clone Tony (or maybe I've just put that in the storyline to explain the huge amount of Tony-esque gremlins on the demo level? Who knows). These cloned Tony's are ten times more vicious and don't care if a couple of them get shot. Little does Bob know that it's in fact his fellow God, Candyfloss, who is behind all this. Your first task is to find out where you are. You must track down the HQ of that area and ask somewhere where you are, then shoot them, and then run away. Not only will you have to survive the huge amount of cloned Tony's, but Samurai masters and Matrix-wannabes Darkus, the Staff Ninja, and Mr Snuggly, the avid Matrix fan, will be trying to stop with a barrage of bullet-time effects, backflips and other such stuff. It's also fairly lucky that one of the enemies are Ninja's, because a Ninja character model comes with DarkBASIC, so I may re-do the first level for that too.
Characters:
Bob:
You play the role of Bob; in the day a mild mannered web-designer come regular forum-ee, but at night he becomes a mild mannered web designer come forum-ee with two guns! It's his quest to find the original SR Towers, blast his way through tons of dodgy-looking character models and save SR. His programming skills will also allow him to manipulate those who use Matrix-stylee moves, thus making them look like fools!
Tony:
While the Tony's you'll meet at first will be after you blood and look very much like gremlins, near the end of your adventure you'll come across the real Tony, trapped in some horrifying machine that will probably hurt him a lot. Using his convenient telepathy, he will contact you giving you hints as an unknown voice, and also reward you with new weapons and vehicles if you pass certain tests, such as retrieving SR money littered around each level.
Mr Snuggly:
Instead of throwing 'GADs' at people, Snuggly knows a lot about the world of the Matrix, making him an effective killing machine, or at least making a fool of himself with Ninja stances and lamp-shade battering (come on, we've all done). In between practicing on EyeToy's Kung Foo, Snuggly will be after you. Using bullet-time moves such as the 'kick-in-nuts-and-run-off' makes him a fierce foe.
Darkus:
Much like Mr Snuggly, Darkus uses his Ninja to fend off enemy tyrants, you being one of them. Using a plastic Ninja sword he nicked from an unknown toy shop and fusing it with glitter paint and Jackie Chan movies, Darkus is ready for anything. Getting glitter in your eye with cause Metroid Prime-style screen-blur, stunting your vision momentarily. He also has Ninja skills in a small RC Car, too, so watch out.
Candyfloss:
Bitter after being thrown out of SR towers and out of a job, Candyfloss is your main enemy. Using insane characters and a high-sugar snack, Candyfloss is one tough guy to beat. Using his ultra-powerful weapons, including a blender, a torch and a bag of sugar, Candyfloss will stop at nothing to rid the world of you and take over SR HQ.
Loki:
Who could forget Loki? Well not me! Loki will be your trainer after his similar experience at Disney Land. Kicking in Mickey Mouse is just some of the fun you'll have with Loki and you'll surely learn some powerful new skills to help you progression.
Okay, so it is probably the corniest game ever thought up, but I nicked someone's game and edited it! Surely that deserves something. I'll probably do a proper game soon.
Here's the game itself:

Just open the .exe to play it.

Yup, just changed Iced from the DarkBASIC pack.
Special Reserve's delivery service has come under fire, and it's up to one Mr Snuggly to set things right. In a bid to deliver games where no mail order internet company has devlivered games before, Snuggly will be off-roading in a variety of mean machines, carrying out missions varying from picking up payment to acting as an elite courier service, often in competition with rivals who'd like nothing better than to see Snuggly fail to deliver his goods. Featuring large 3D 'go-anywhere' worlds and a unique combination of arcade and simulation style vehicle handling over a wide range of environments, Snuggler's run will be the game to watch out for.
*sighs...
If anyone finds it, they can keep the ideas, it was actually quite good :D

Where did you get that code from? was it a demo game included with a game building program like DarkBasic or something? It looks incredibly familiar...
