I need a new CD, but I'm totally stuck for choice, so I'd like a couple of recommendations.

I'm into mostly rock stuff (e.g. The Darkness, Foo fighters), I also like Ska and that lot.

The only real thing i don't like is mental screaming stuff like Fear factory or Slipknot, e.g. I want to tell what they are singing.

Any ideas?

Ta.

I'm just downloading 'All-out', does sound a bit staccato/grunge-ish, but his voice doesn't seem all that roary, as of yet.

Name some bands that they are similar too, and I might be interested.......

Queen - The Platinum collection.

I think that's what its called. The set with greatest hits 1-3. Doubt you'll bother listening to GH3 much as I never do but the other two are worth it. Might be able to get it for less than £15.

I keep telling people to listen to Dredg, but they never do. Probably because they sound like a hardcore shouty metal band, which is way off the mark. They're albums aren't released over here, but you can get them for about a tenner from Amazon.

The first album, Leitmotif, is a fairly short but excellent and original rock album. The second, El Cielo, is also brilliant, but less heavy than the previous album. I'd try Leitmotif if you're new to them.

www.dredg.com for more info, if anyone's interested.

Yeah, but his eyes don't complain.

Get some decent rock -

Relationship of Command - At The Drive In
De-Loused In The Comatroium - Mars Volta
United By Fate - Rival Schools
Siamese Dream - Pumpkins
Ride The Fader - Chavez

If you've never heard any of them you owe it to yourself to see. Just experiment rather than buying some genero-metal/rock which does sod all differently.

Simple Plan - No pads, no helmets, just ball (its punk/ska-ish)
Limp Bizkit - Results may vary (good album)
Linkin Park - Meteora (Not too shouty)
Muse - Absolution (Quite accoustic and a little slow, except "time is running out")
Disturbed - The Sickness (Hardcore, a bit shouty but very good)
Evanescence - [Forgotten the name] (its good and a chick sings)

Ozzy Osbourne CD's. particularly 'down to earth'. the album is filled with plenty of heavy metal, but no screaming. he does it like he was doing it before it was invented.

eh?
