How many of you get angry? Surely everyone.
But what do you do when you get angry? How do you calm yourself?
Do you keep it in hoping that any minute it'll go away, do you do something physical, or do you simply just walk away?
Hit something. A pillow, a wall, yourself?

What kinds of things set it off for you.
What do you do when you're angry?

The most memorable thing I've done yet whilst angry is throw my guitar against my bedroom wall. That was sad. But it feels so unbelievably nice to throw something when upset. It really does help.

Say you're a 15 year old boy/girl and you get upset/angry a lot, but keep it in. Do you think it'll affect your future? Make you mentally unstable?

Ack, so many questions! I'm inquisitive! I appreciate your opinions, going through a stage where I'm loving to learn about people..! ;)

I used to work at a petrol station where, whenever he'd been speaking to a particularly rude/annoying/stupid customer, one of the managers would throw a right jab at the wall.
It was peppered with dents, and he really went for it. I don't know how he didn't mash his knuckles up...

Anger doesn't exist in my emotional vocabulary. You're right, it's temporary madness, like the hulk or summint - I'd rather be in control than lose it. I see people that get angry as very unstable, and I usually try to calm a situation with humour. Failing that, kung fu.

I very rarely get angry. But when I do, it's usually at something really unimportant - never at people, though.

The filing cabinet next to my computer here has many dents and scratches from when the internet wouldn't connect, and I think I pushed my knuckle out of place one of those times.

vacate to my own little realm and cease seeing sense and reason...
is interesting!

How do you calm yourself?

depends on what the antagonist is....
i was out walking a coupla weeks ago and these 2 little street rats (prolly about 12) rode past on their bikes. as they were passing, one just stretched out and punched me in the face, so after a split second of reflection, it made me mad and i chased the little tw@ and stole his bike (which for some reason he'd leapt off of.. odd!). he started crying and his mate came after me, i lost it and started screaming at him about what gave him the right to lay his hands on me, etc.. and then HE started crying too!
so, in that situation, simply venting my spleen was enough, i calmed down a few minutes later and left his bike in an obvious place where he'd get it back, but it felt good to reduce them bother to tears, a far cry from the big, bad men they thought they were when they decided to start on someone twice their size (literally! hell, i'm 23, 6'2" and spend a fair amount of time in the gym, i'm not a small dude... which makes it even more baffling!!).

i try to avoid physical stuff though unless REALLY provoked, like i said, i'm not small and i don't want to hurt people, i just want people to realise they can't just do as they please to people and expect no repercussions...

all 3....

anything really, which is kinda a shame cos it means i never know how i'll feel one moment to the next :(

> What do you do when you're angry?

become thoroughly unreasonable, safe in the knowledge that i'll spend the next coupla hours apologising for such as assclown...

hehe, i've not gone that far, but then again, i love my guitars :)

yiiiiiip, recent recipients include a gamecube pad, my mobile (totally destroyed) and my lan phone (totally destroyed).
the crappest thing though is that as soon as the satisfaction of seeing them smash fades, you realise "damn, now i have to buy another one.. DOH!!" and you can see it for the daft response that it was :)

I used to have a ferocious temper when roused, and God help anyone in my path. I'm not too bad now, I manage to control it and let it seeth away inside me, but I usually punch things (pillows and so forth). It helps.

"Anger is brief madness" - those who get angry alot and indulge in their angry spats are statistically (75%) more likely to go round the twist and end up dribbling like demented gibbons into their tea in later life.

I just made that up.
