My opinion

In my opinion, the simpsons is the best thing on TV at the moment and has been for the last couple years. I have seen nearly all the episodes and even if I had seen one five times, I would still find it funny. Not many programs can do that can they?

All age groups find it funny and enjoy watching it aswell, when I watch, my mom and dad watch it aswell and they, my dad especially, has really bad taste in programs.

When Matt Groening created all the characters, all the ingridients were there for a great show but no one could have predicted how fantastic it is. Another thing that is interesting is that over the many years of talking about it to friends, I have never come accross someone who dislikes the program.

Funny elements that make the program what it is

The characters are fantastic, I mean how funny is Homer when he cries over spilt beer or Mr Burns giving someone a verbal rocket. There is a character in this program that anyone can relate to, ANYONE.

The storylines, there are two that stick in my mind especially and always will, the one where Homer has to gain weight so he can become disabled and the one where George Bush moves in accross the road. The George Bush episode is probably the best episode ever!

Other little extras make the program what it is, things like when they mimic something out of a film ie. When Homer be friends Flanders and Ned tries to drive off and Homer clutches on to the back of the car like the T1000 in terminator 2. That scene was fantastic.

I would just like to add that my favourite characters (apart from the obvious homer and bart) are:-

Mojo the monkey - only features once but he was outstanding, especially his "happy dance" :D
Comic Book Guy - The ruler of sarcasm, his one liners crack me up every time
Mr Burns - His thriftiness and his dislike for fellow people with funny results make him a good character
George Bush - not him personally but he was involved in the epic battle against Homer

There are just a few of my favourites, the list could go on for ages though :).

Concluding this little essay on why the simpsons is so great, I would just like to say, The Simpsons is great!

The Simpsons nearly always manages to come up with great musical scores. There have been many memorable songs but which one is your favourite??

For me nothing beats Nelson's re-invention of 'joy to the world':

"Joy to the world, the teachers dead,
we barbecued her head.
What happened to her body,
we flushed it down the potty.
And round and round it goes,
and round and round it .... goes!!"

Think that is just great - there are so many that stick out but that I think is the best of them!!

How about King-Size Homer? The one where he has to gain 69 lbs in order to become disabled so he can work at home. Classic moments in this episode include;
Homer purchasing a mumu, from a fat guy store and
Homer washing his 'fat guys hat' with a sample of washing powder.
