That is absolutely disgusting.

I do worry about whether I will be able to cope with things I see knowing that it is possible that despite all the work I put in a lot of people will just get a slapped wrist.

What was this fight all about?

I agree in part with that. We're too soft on cretins with no more than a few braincells rattling around their skulls, pished outta their heads, bottling anyone they take a disliking to.

Multiple injuries as in;roughly five people with stab wounds, one person found in a pool of blood - CCTV showed a group of 3 men kicking him after they'd knocked him down, several people with wounds inflicted by thrown bottles, around 30 of those involved were found to be seriously drunk, around 20 carrying illegal weapons....as I said, the law is a joke.

When I used to work in the town there was one woman who literally stole everything she got the chance to. Eventually she was caught in another store. At her trial she admitted something like 100+ past offences of goods totallying about £10000, and, surprise surprise, she got 3 months of community service. Now, according to the paper, she's been convicted again for failing to do that service without reasonable excuse, as well as a whole host of driving offences, and she's now been given 1 WEEK imprisonment and 3 months community service.

It's like that paedophile on the news yesterday, apparently "the worst case in Britain ever", yet he gets 5 years in prison, after which, thanks to the publicity, he'll lead a sheltered life, with a new identity, and quite likely never have to work again.

Me ? I think we should get the Saudi's to come over and give us a few lessons.

It all depends on so many things though. Seriousness of what has happened and what could have happened.

You said there was a big fight involving all these items, but you haven’t mentioned what was the outcome of it all. You mentioned “multiple injuries”, but to what extent? If someone was carrying these items at a fight that is serious enough and I think warrants more then a caution, but if they failed to actually use the items, then I can see where the police would be coming from only cautioning in these circumstances. Doing anything else would create too much paperwork, which would take up far too many police resources.

If someone got bottled or stabbed, I would be disgusted if the person responsible only got a warning.

It is completely different if you have a one person repeatedly kicking someone who is one the floor. Although in both examples a serious assault would probably be committed. It is far more realistic that it can be dealt with in the second case.

If a copper came across this situation I think the person involved would be up for A.B.H and possibly even G.B.H depending on the injuries sustained.

Unfortunately this is the way it works. If you have to process 40 people and no “major” offences have been committed then I think it would be dealt with in the way which would save time. Sad but true.
