Yet, I've never perfect my learning technique for this tense in particular.
How did you learn/remember it?
(Ah yes, Irregulars are included to)

There isnt so much of a pattern. Its more memory you see because some are 'irregular' because they do not follow the same pattern. I.e 'DAR' you would think would end in 'é' etc (like below)
But the lil buggeroonie ends in 'i' instead grrrr
basically
..
*dont like tenses either*
~AR verbs. Remove the ~ar from the infinitive (hablar, pasar etc) and add
-é
-aste
-ó
-amos
-asteis
-aron
So you get
Hablé - I spoke
Hablaste - you spoke
Habló - he/she/it spoke
hablamos - we spoke
Hablasteis - you (pl) spoke
Hablaron - They spoke.
NOW! For ER and IR verbs....Remove the ~er/~ir from the infinitive and add
-í
-iste
-ió
-imos
-ieron
So you get....
Comí ,Comiste,comió , comimos y comieron etc..
better yet?
> hmm hang on
*hangs*
> Que paso!!! - what happened
>
> ˇEl ladrón entró por la ventana! - the robber
> entered through the window
ˇO crappo!!! - Oh darn.
silly me :-P didn't explain my question properly :-P
