A few of my mates reckon Halifax is the best bank account but I arent too big on all that 0% interest do-dah rubbish. It confuses me. I just want a decent bank account that is easy to use.
I have heard that for student bank account you can get vouchers off HMV and stuff when you join but it could be folklore.
Suggestions or advice wanted please.
Thanks.
> A lot of places don't actually take Solo. Stupid, but true.
But when you're 18, and you upgrade to Switch, then you're ok.
You still need a credit card (as opposed to Switch/Solo) to use Xbox Live though :S
My parents are with them so they must like it.
Best bank in my opinion is Royal Bank Of Scotland. I've not really had any problems with them in years. Natwest (who are owned by RBS) are good too.
Lloyds are evil. Through their incompetence in refusing to change direct debit dates, increase the overdraft etc I had £3000 in charges in one year. Had they done what I had asked them too at the beginning of the year then I would not have had any of them.
Bank Of Scotland / Halifax are OK, but a mate works for them, so I go on about how wonderful RBS are to annoy him.
HSBC are the worlds second biggest bank. They must be doing something right.
Intelligent Finance is Online/Over the phone banking.
It sounds like a lot of hassle - but you don't actually need to do anything via the internet, and I've very rarely even used the phone (except to talk to some Scottish lasses who sound a bit like Gail Porter)
You get a Solo card if you're under 18 - or a Switch card when you're over, can use virtually any ATM to get money out - and if you're using it mainly to keep wages in - the paying in of money will be done by your employer, not yourself - so again, there's no hassle at all.
I've had no problems with them at all, and am extremely happy with their services.
