Now when I switch it on all I get is a blank screen and the monitor power light flickers as if it's on standby. I tried resetting the BIOS with the jumper to no avail.
One thing I noticed - the green power light on the computer doesn't go on when I press the power button, yet the fans start spinning, CD-ROM lights up, Hard-Drive light comes on and it spins as usual. Weird.
Is it completely screwed?
I might get a new battery and see if it does anything.
See if it makes any difference.
Check the molex connects are plugged in properly. Actually check all the cables.
Yesterday I decided to give it another go...and it switched on. First time. It forced me to go into CMOS setup, so I just loaded 'optimized defaults' and hit save & exit. Now, it got about halfway into booting into Windows but crashed at the XP Pro screen thingy, the bit where the 3 little bars go round a few times. Yeah.
...then it froze, and when I tried to restart it, it was doing the blank screen thing again.
Now, like I said before, when it does the blank screen the green power light on the case doesn't come on, but when it actually worked the green light did come on, so it obviously bears some significance to what the problem is.
The motherboard quite obviously still works now(ish), so any idea what the problem could be?
(although that will change)
