Right, i have just gotta job, and I am thinking of getting a new pc. Now, i can either save up for a whole one form say Maxx PC, build my own, or build one of these snazzy shuttle type ones. I particulaly like the hi-fi type MSI one, however, would it be a waste of money?

What would you do?

Actually, I have to admit that's a pretty good deal considering the price of those components separately. Rarely do I recommend pre-built machines, but I'm impressed =)

Agreed. I would say that 17" is too small a screen to display 1600x1200 comfortably, whether Turbonutter protests or not :O)

Yes it would. But if you have a small screen like a 15" then may be a resolution of 800x600 is best. Thats what I used and now for my 19" I have 1280x960. I find that a nice resolution where everything is nice and clear and doesnt seem too big, text is easy to read.

I still reckon that looking at writing 2mm tall all day is going to knacker your eyes faster. There's probably lots of research to back me up, but I cba to go look for it.

I dont think its the size that matters with monitors its the clarity. You can have a big 21" monitor but have a high pitch say 0.26mm and the quality is bad. I was use to a 15" monitor at 800x600 but now I have a nice Samsung 19" which runs at 85hz and 1280x960. Also has a very sharp screen at 0.20mm pitch. The quality difference between the 2 is staggering.
