As soon as you come out of your shell and into work.
Everybody around you starts to say,
"Welcome to the real world!", or "Well, this is the real world now, and it sucks."
Why do people have to say that?
Whenever somebody says it to me, I get this uncontrollable anger and feel like puking up over them.
It's like they feel big and powerful for saying it when really it's just words.
Answer me this.
Whether you're in school or not, isn't *that* the real world too?
You're still exposed to all the things going on in the world, be it death, war, rape.
Yet when you get out of school, that's when people start saying it.
What, do they say it because we've suddenly 'grown up' and got our qualifications?
Why do people consider working to be the real world?
I don't think there is such thing as 'the real world'.
Views pleashe thankyou! ;)

Oh, that's my plan too. The trouble is I want to be a writer, and until I actually finish a book it won't pay anything; and even if I get something published soon, it's not a very lucrative career. Right now I need this job or I'll starve, and I'll have nowhere to live, and girls will laugh at my tattered rags.
if you do a job you love, you never work a day in your life.
that's the plan.
somehow I doubt there are many vacancies as head test driver for ferrari, or beach tester in the caribbean.
so I'll concentrate on two things I do enjoy : martial arts and journalism/writing
> Why do people consider working to be the real world?
Maybe because they have nothing else.
Right now I'm working late to appease my boss - entirely my fault, not his - and thinking how little this all means to me. The second he left the office I started posting on an internet forum, and I've spent most of the day surreptitiously blowing bubbles with my chewing gum. I only work here so that I can go back to the things I actually care about: my friends, my family, my writing, my records. That's my real world, and this job is just a means to an end.

Yes, I do know what you mean. Just the way you phrased it made your school sound like a battle arena, to me anyway.
I guess when people say "the real world" they just mean you have to fend for yourself and don't have things provided for you.
being talked down to is something you'll have to put up with throughout your life, not just when you're first starting a job.
someone always thinks they know better than you, or that your opinion is worthless.
something that fuels my fire also .....

Absolutely.
Blank, LOL, I think you know what I meant! I meant the goings-on in the world. I don't think that stuff ever happened at my school..!
well, when neo was freed from the matrix, morpheus said "welcome to the real world, now grab a mop and get scrubbing, you don't know yer born....."
is this similar to what you were describing?
