S'only 1.1mb, tells you pretty much anything you could wish to know abuot the internals of your machine, including RAM type, speed, CAS timings etc - It'll also do CPUs, motherboards, whatever else you happen to have, pretty much. Have a look.

What processor and motherboard have you got? If you have the motherboard manual you can have a look in there to see what it takes. If you havent got the manual look it up on the net. Also programs like 3D mark 2001 have information about the PC and might specify what RAM it is.

I've no idea what type, I just know that I need more :)

Yep they are. Double the L2 cache.

There are actually two revisions of Thoroughbred - A and B. The A was very unstable and only managed to reach XP2200 speeds. AMD quickly realised this and released the Thoroughbred B, with an extra layer to make it much, much more stable.

Not all Athlon XP's are created equal, there are various 'classes' that give away how the chip was made inside. The three main classes are Palomino, Thoroughbred and Barton, in chronological order. Palomino's were manufactured with 0.18 micron pathways. They needed more current to work, and consequently run extremely hot - my Palomino XP2000 idles something like 20 degrees hotter than my mates Thoroughbred XP2000. Thoroughbreds have 0.13 micron pathways, meaning they run cooler. Bartons are also 0.13 micron, but they have twice the amount of cache on the processor. Consequently an XP2500 Barton has a lower clock speed than an XP2400 Thoroughbred, as its cache makes it more efficient at what it does. Despite the Bartons lower clock speed, it gets the same amount of work done as a Thoroughbred of the same rating.
