Didn't think it would happen at stamford bridge let alone for england!

Pretty solid performance from all though nothing spectacularly dazzling from them, Bridge looked very assured defensively (but that is assumed against lichenstein, but his link up with the midfield was excellent)and his crossing was of a high callibre, probably deserves to keep his place for the next game.

Lamps just played a solid game, and not much can be said about him and terry as this kind of match isn' really the kind of game to shine.

Cole showed some of what makes him unique, any game where we aren't making an impact, he should really be first sub on, he just guarantees a bit of forward play and a few more shots and thats often what we need to stir things up.

Thought over the op praise of rooney detracted from him in the end, he had a very good game and was probably our best player, but i really hate it when the commentators make a big deal over every little touch, they pretty much credited him with the first goal, evn though he just did a pass back! surprised they didn't credit him, for scotland, wales' and serbia's goals.

Thought Lichenstein's keeper was man of the match for me, Roonaldo Englands best.

Special international mentions:

Simon Davies credit to the man knocking them away for wales. add Mikale to that list as well, hope you brummies are grateful for him!

Serbia, come on wales! win the group!

Lampard was crap, Cole did nothing, Terry didn't get into the game, and Bridge got booked for a needless challenge and his crossing was pants.

Hurrah for Chelsea. I personally find it worrying that that was the best team we could field. Sure, we wanted to protect Beckham, Gerrard and Campbell, but don't we have anyone else other than these people?

I am still lamenting the lack of gary Barry. Although most of our play went down the left this time, listening to brooking and co mumbling on about cole, bridge and upson being the only left footers about, I can't beleive gary barry wasn't mentioned. they were talking about bridge and ashley cole together, why bother whe you have a left sider anyway who has adapted to left midfield. If Chelsea hadn't got all the money in over the summer Barry was one of the alleged previous targets, i doubt he'd get ignored at a top 5 club. But liverpool are the only ones with anything resembling a vacancy.

Joe cole seems to raise the teams he plays in, he plays with such passion, not everything comes of but the tempo goes up a lot when he is on and is a match changer, pure commitmanet when he is on. Thought hargreaves ha a good game too. Owen wasn't great again, and i'd say Beatts probably had the edge on him this time even if he didn't score.

I have to say that I was disappointed in Lampard.

Against Croatia he took the game by the scruff of the neck, and made a mark on it, happy to take the ball and run at people. Today, he just didn't do that.

I was much happier with Bridge than with Cole, but the opposition were very different.

Terry, didn't have much to do, but could have taken the ball forward a little more from the back, as the Liechenstien players quickly moved back to defend. Both Campbell and Ferdinand are far superior at bringing the ball forward from the back, but Terry will get there in time. At the moment at Chelsea, it's Desailly that you expect to do that, but tonight, Terry and Upson are equally inexperienced.

Joe Cole is quality though, a genuinely exciting player. Even though much of what he does doesn't come off, he gets the team going, the fans excited, and scares the opposing defence.

So that's your Chelsea players covered, now to the game in general.

We had, what 24 shots on goal, 13 of which were on target. One of the biggest score lines in International football in recent years was Norway 10 - San Marino 0. In that match Norway only had 11 shots on target. Their keeper was very good positionally, and did have a number of shots right at him.

Turkey next, and I think we should be able to raise our game, and make it more interesting. We should be able to come out on top of the group, but I'd rather see Ferdinand and Campbell at the back, and think that Hargreaves has done enough to get himself in there on the left. Hopefully Gerrard will remain fit, and Beckham will be really important. I guess the biggest thing will be who plays up front. Surely Rooney will play, given how well he played before against Turkey, they'll be afraid of him.
