Pretty solid performance from all though nothing spectacularly dazzling from them, Bridge looked very assured defensively (but that is assumed against lichenstein, but his link up with the midfield was excellent)and his crossing was of a high callibre, probably deserves to keep his place for the next game.
Lamps just played a solid game, and not much can be said about him and terry as this kind of match isn' really the kind of game to shine.
Cole showed some of what makes him unique, any game where we aren't making an impact, he should really be first sub on, he just guarantees a bit of forward play and a few more shots and thats often what we need to stir things up.
Thought over the op praise of rooney detracted from him in the end, he had a very good game and was probably our best player, but i really hate it when the commentators make a big deal over every little touch, they pretty much credited him with the first goal, evn though he just did a pass back! surprised they didn't credit him, for scotland, wales' and serbia's goals.
Thought Lichenstein's keeper was man of the match for me, Roonaldo Englands best.
Special international mentions:
Simon Davies credit to the man knocking them away for wales. add Mikale to that list as well, hope you brummies are grateful for him!
Serbia, come on wales! win the group!
Scholes doesn't seem to be playing how he normally does and seems to be finding it hard to get in some of the games.
I also think Rooney could cover that position, as he's very strong and quick and is never afraid of taking players on. His passing is superb and he's got verd vision. All he needs is a few games.
Not only is he more of a "goal-scorer" than some of the other so-and-so's Eriksson can't seem to leave-out - no matter how poorly they perform - but, for Leeds, he will work harder than any other player on the pitch to make sure his team gets all-3-points.
He's a hard-worker, just like Frank Lampard.
Those are the types of players England needs, and not the hyped-up, "pop-star"-like tarts like Michael Owen and David Beckham, who just prance-around for 45-minutes, and get all the attention afterwards.
But Eriksson obviously would rather be `everyone's´ best-friend than to give our team what it really needs!
But again, he didn't get the after-match credit he deserved!
The 'papers and `everyone´ were too busy ranting and raving about 3 men, and the same 3 men as it always is these days: David Beckham, Michael Owen and - of course - Wayne Rooney.
They're just the big names that everyone wants to see. They get all the credit for the hard work "newcomers" like Frank Lampard are putting-in for the full-90-minutes of each game! (Not to say that Rooney was quite as 'lazy' as his appearence suggests, or anything!)
When will people stop acting like idiotic little kids and realise there are NINE other players on that pitch, also?!?
But id love to see Alan Smith get a chance upfront for England, he's a different kind of player than what we currenlty have.
James
A.Cole
Rio
Campbell
Neville
Butt
Gerrard
Scholes(if fit)
Beckham
Heskey
Owen
Gues id try them both alongside Smith see a balance - I reckon Rooney would be much better suited as he can drop off the striker when owen is more out n out run onto anything player.
But against Turkey id play Heskey, because he can put himself about a bit and you know the turks they will be out to try and boss the game by whatever means possible.
GK James

If you look at the game last night, you'll find that there was hardly any movement, except for the odd couple. We passed the ball and weren't going anywhere. If you look at Liechtenstein, they passed the ball quickly and were near the penalty box after a few passes.
