2000 was a terrible year. To begin, many big names dropped out. First was SNK, creators of the NeoGeoPocketColour and great games like metal slug. Despite these games, people shunned the NGPC, and SNK were forced into retreat back to Japan.
Then Sega. After having made the best games for years (Shenmue, Jet Set, Crazy Taxi etc) their ecconomics went head first, and ended in the company being split up- inevitably a ploy towards becoming 3rd party only.
Furthermore, with the decline of the N64 (ok, there were great games... but not many!), and even the PSX as gamers waited for the PS2, what did we get? Poor, rushed games on a system that had even more bugs than Windows. Now playststion fans may complaim, but when you compare this to Sega's DC launch where the games were excellent, and the only problem was the slow internet connection at first, this was a dissaster!
Finally, gamers were told they had to wait until Winter for the first truelly triple A title on the PS2- The bouncer. And that is poosibly the poorest game ever.
On another note, many publishers saw a fall in revenue as gamers waited for the new consoles, and as a results have held their best games for this year!

???
I know the early PS2 games are not the greatest ever, but I'm not aware of any bugs. I have 7 titles so far, and I've not noticed any glitches - nor have any crashed.
Any other PS2 owners had problems?
Just goes to show, pushing yourself to the front of the queue can work ;-p
Just kidding, it was a decent post.
2001 is looking promising for all the consoles, Shenmue 2 on the Dreamcast, MetalGearSolid2 on the Playstation2, ConkersBadFurDay on N64, TimeCrisis:ProjectTitan on the Playstation and MarioKartAdvance on the GameBoyAdvance! The Future looks promising!
Shenmue
-What i consider to be the best game ever, with graphics so revolutionary it wouldnt look out of step on the ps3.The detail is amazing and the story line takes you on an emotional journey.Amazing stuff.
Jet Set Radio
-What a game,i think it is better than tony hawks. All you have to do is look at the screenshots this is truly amazing. The gameply is magic with some excellent levels and fabulous music makes this a gaming classic.
Quake 3
-This popular first person shooter on the pc made its way to the dc with all its trademark activities with some stunning graphics and this took the dc's online caperbilities to a new level.
Crazy Taxi
-this manic racer had dc owners in fits cause it was so fun it was untrue with some awesome graphics and gamepy made this some peoples favourite game. And now the ps2 wants it,it cant be bad then.
Dead Or Alive 2
-this bouncy, busty fighter had men in fits as super babes battled it out in a massive beat em up.Believe me the graphics are crazily good ,but that wasn the reason you bought it was it guys.
Code Veronica
-This calssic resi evil made dcs owners shoot and kill zombies in this massive adnenture and guess what the ps2 wants that as well.with its superb graphics are scary gameplay amkes this one of my favoutrite games.
Virtua Tennis
-this sports title didnt make it to no.1 in the charts becasue it was bad (unlike who wants to be a millionaire)the graphics were stunning and the gameplay brought back memories of pong.the golden days.
there are so may on the dc it is hard to mentiopn them all
-MSR

Smackdown 2
-this wreastling massacre was a huge hit with the public and for good reasom as well.It has great gameplay and some super graphics ,making this a wreastling experience not a game.
Dino Crisis 2
-another horror title but the probem is they are so damn good .It has some stunnig graphics making the game look like jurassic park with guns and blood.the gamepay is amazing,so yes it was a highligh of last year.
Spiderman
-The webbed wizard returns to a great adventure with some truely great gameply and some comic style visuals, makes this a hit in my books.Come on who could resis the temptations of spidy.
Other games which need a mention are
-Alien Resuresction
-Tony Hawks 2
-Driver 2
etc
come on the n64 didnt have a good year, nintendo were to busy with the pokemon craze but they did have some shinning stars. The great Perfect Dark which makes Goldeneye look pathetic in the graphics department and the gameplay ain thalf bad either,if you see it on the cheap ....get it.Another is Zelda:Majoras Mask which i thought was wicked, with its great graphics and superb gameply which makes this my favourite N64 game of last year.
As you can see it werent have bad was it,2001 will have a tough time beating it with the quality thats on offer at the momment, you would be crazy not to get some of these games o the list.
As for the games, there were loads of great ones... but compared to previous years! I bet that this year will mark the revival of games with Nintendos blitz on the gamecube, as well as all the PS2 games that we've been waiting for. Next year will probably be better. Third and first party companies will try to lure customers to the consoles that they are supporting by creating great games. Imagine, Sega, Nintendo, EA and the like all holding off their best titles till then!
