Hey everyone I was just wondering if anybody has some useful tips and/or hints to getting good work experience for a career in presenting (hopefully radio in my case). I am already getting work experience with my local station Forth One www.forthone.co.uk but I need MORE :D I am going to try and get a job presenting hospital radio too in a couple of months which should look good on my CV. Anyway any useful info would be greatly appreciated.

P.s. My mate said something about a radio station that allows anyone to broadcast on it from their home aslong as they have a decent mic etc. Anyone know what I'm on about heh?

Hospital Radio is a good start. I started on that, started doing dogsbody work for the girl that did the rock show.
Ended up co-presenting, then doing it solo with a mate.
And former presenter was my 1st shag ever....ah, happy memories.
Then they put me on the chart show, and you can guess how enthused I was about that. Got told to leave after my extended-scratch mix of Take That's "Back for Good".
I remember the records in the chart when I "left"
Tina Arena "Chains"
Outhere Bros "Don't stop (wiggle wiggle)"
Christ that was a dark time....

Then I did local radio, 10.17, but got sacked for broadcasting a tribute to Bill Hicks, set to "World of S###" by Nailbomb.
*shrugs* Was worth it.

I'd say you're doing the right thing with local radio/hospital radio.
Try and keep some of the tapes of your broadcast for sending to other stations.
