Thanks Mum, I didn't know that because I'm 12 and spend my days watching MTV2.
I'm being sarcastic. I've already done that.
Next time you move house, ask your bank for a list of direct debits associated with your account. In fact, do it now anyway, just in case there is something else hidden there for a rainy day.
It's not their fault if you don't tell them that you've moved. I can assure you that they have a far bigger problem in terms of people flitting around without telling anybody than you do with the minor inconvenience of having a hundred odd quid coming out of your account.
In my company, we have hundreds of millions of pounds of debt attributed to people who move house without telling us. If people informed us, we'd not have those debts, and we could pass on the savings to the customers.
Hell, we actually reward customers for telling us that they move, and STILL they flit about without a care in the world.
Fools.
Contacted TV license people and they're sending me the forms to sort this mess out. And I rang my bank to cancel the Direct Debit. "Did you know there was a payment on the 1st?", "Yes, they took all my money, the b*stards!". Well, obviously I was more polite than that.
Wouldn't it have been easier for them to check if the address was covered by a licence, rather than my name? What a waste of money sending out letters to people who already have licences.
Phone em up and give em a good shouting at.
