Just to let you guys know that despite having two firewalls, my computer has somehow contracted a virus (despite me not having any strange emails - and certainly none opened with attatchments).

Despite being up to date with my Antivirus software, this virus is still unknown.

It has infected 1 file on my computer.

The file that is quarrantined by Norton's Antivirus is called verifier.class and is a trojan horse.

I have submitted it to Symmantec and hopefully they'll be able to tell me more about it and allow me to repair the file. According to their software, they should respond within a week, their average response time being 48 hours. Given that its the weekend, I'm not holding my breath.

If you get any emails from me via Hotmail and they have odd titles, delete/ignore them.

I'll give you more news as I get it.

I don't have a firewall, no viruses either as yet, but do you think it's safe for me to use K-Lite at the moment? I'm on Windows 98 Second Edition.

If you wanted, you could set-up 3 firewalls, as Windows XP has one that you can activate...

I do indeed.

I'm assuming because the file couldn't be repaired, it will also be non-deletable - hence the reason I submitted it to symmantec.
