Making your kids wear them is a bit beyond the borders of acceptable social behaviour for an adult though, isn't it? they'll grow up warped and hideous.

I collect helmets and wear them naked.

I freely admit to being slightly deviant. So should the rest of you.

Nothing wrong with breaking free from social stigma, stepping away from the beaten path, etc. Provided it's within the confines of the law, of course.

I do need to get a life though.

Random Person needs to get a life, I collect figures, sci fi stuff, anime, tons of things, even with my limited budget. My parents loft is full of mint on card Star Wars stuff and the like.

Sad ? Who cares, if that's someones opinion of me then I guarantee if they list their hobbies I can destroy them just as well.

I love Lego. Don't play with it anymore, but I think it's excellent. If I ever have kids (don't count on it!) I'll make sure they never go without that lovable stuff. I'm also getting more and more into computer games. I'm short of cash at the moment, but that didn't stop me buying Edge and OPS2 Mag this weekend. And I got my SR mag, which I read from cover to cover.

Each to their own though I think.
I collect 1st edition books, and some would label that sad. Pride of place goes to a 1st edition book of collected Strand magazines from 1834, with the original Sherlock Holmes stories in.
You may find that sad, I find it most excellent.
