Does anyone know if its possible to get firewall software to use on a 133MHz processor? Most seem to run on at least 150MHz. I might just get a new pc but I only want it for surfing and want broadband

I upgraded my old 166mhz PC to windows 98 and it slowed it down majorly.

Aye, i didnt know that till i actually tried using the USB ports on my Gateway which came as standard. Gateways used to be made in Ireland i guess though....

The reason I suggest a new PC is that if kitkat was wondering about upgrading to Win 98, then shes on something older. And Win 95 didn't have built in USB support and most broadband modems are USB modems.

Thanx didn't know you could get that. Only thing is though will be using cable for broadband so wont be getting ADSL modem so I will check with Telewest and find out if their modems have this facility. Ta!

Ignore Turbonutter.

If you get broadband then I would recommend a firewall. I have had several direct hack attempts on my PC plus 64500 intrusions in less than a year.

But if you are on a dial up it's not needed as much.

Windows 98 would technically run, but very slowly. I would invest in a new PC. You can get a decent one for only a few hundred.

Thanx think I will just have to get new one!!! Its also only got 32Mb of RAM so will probally really slow it down. Would upgrading to Win 98 be ok? though?
