A few years back Women were'nt allowed in the fireservice, now some of them had a sh!tfit and eventually the goverment said yes, now women can be firefighters, only problem, mens natural ability to be taller therefor stronger, made them better than MOST women, therefor, women failed the tests and couldnt become firefighters. Fair enough, we have these tests to make sure people are capable of saving and protecting lives...the goverment make the test ALOT easier for women, giving them a pass rate, therefor, more women are now firefighters, therefor my life is to be saved when a 5ft 5" woman carrys me out of a window ever her shoulder...?
Well then, that seems a little unfair, but get this, the women were demanding EQUAL rights! EQUAL. So, what do they do? They go out and make 'Diamond', the only car insurance JUST for women. That doesnt seem fantastically equal to me. But, men, we keep schtoomp, because we cant be bothered to argue. Woman howerever, if this was an advert saying 'Male onyl car insurance' or in other words 'Because its women who cause crashes and raise the rates', would get it banned. Now I dont mind the service, all I'm saying is Ladies, for god's sakes make up your mind, which is it you want, equal rights or privilages for different sexes?
Your veiws?
If a women wants to be a firefighter - she should take the same test if not a harder one and be a specific height requirement. If she then proves herself to be more than suited that is fine. Changing a test so there are women and men on a team so it is 'equal' is wrong when lives are in danger.
This was not sexist and he made a valid point.
"all I'm saying is Ladies, for god's sakes make up your mind, which is it you want, equal rights or privilages for different sexes?"
As a women, I found this a sexist remark. The manner in which he asked was patronising. The use of 'forgodsakes make up your minds' aimed at ladies in general was to me belittleing especially as I already agree with his argument.
There my opinion.
Men are better at throwing.
End. Of. Story.

Heh. The thing is, you've only picked one particular kind of activity that is weighted towards men. What if you were to pick another one; could you then say that women are definitely superior?
I dunno...I basically find prejudging someone cos of their race/sex/colour a bit unsavoury. You can't make a sweeping statement like "X is better than Y" because at the end of the day, it sounds like uninformed ignorance.
Erm...that's not a dig at you by the way Simon says!

I'm not sure I agree with this. I don't think it's as clear cut as you'er making out. If something is different from something else in some way then surely their abilities are also different. Men are generally bigger and stronger than women, so therefore in a competition where the biggest and strongest wins then it is better to be a man.
Is that sexist?
I think where women lose out is that the things women tend to be better at are less easily quantified than strength.
Maybe what I'm trying to say is that its not sexist if you're backed by a rational argument. Or maybe I'm saying that it is sexist, but if its backed by a rational argument then it's okay to be sexist.
If sexism is discrimination upon the basis of sex then is my saying I think women make better strippers than men sexist?
I think I've now decided that yes, I am sexist, but that its okay to be sexist on grounds that I'm not a *complete* moron.
Of course, try telling that to Andrea "The Body" Dworkin...

Unlucky more like. On saying that one of the very first posts I did on here was about 'Blatheringly Stupid Women Drivers' because I'd had three problems within 24 hours and they were all women.
Does that make me sexist?
In my 12 months of driving experience, I've had 2 near accidents, both of which were caused by women not paying attention. Had I not reacted like I had, then a) I would have had a hefty car-shaped dent in the right side of my car, and b) would have probably killed one of my passengers. As well as this, most of the other accidents I see on the road seem to eminate from women. So, in my own experience, women are worse drivers than men.
Does that make me sexist? I'm not sure.
