Yeah, some colleges have higher expectations because they only want to teach clever Students. Some Colleges have lower expectations because they will teach anyone who comes to them!

Why's there such a fuss over GCSEs anywho?
It's not like they're very important - you need about 4 Ds to get into college, and most people who don't manage that probably don't want to go anyway.

Actually the pass rate has gone down this year, I think it's the first time in about 25 years. I bet the Daily Mail are planning a "WHY ARE OUR KIDS DOING WORSE THAN EVER BEFORE?" campaign right now. or they could have already done one, I don't read it.
I'm actually quite surprised that people who got A*s didn't do as well in science than in other subjects - you only need 75% to get the top grade (in the Double Award, at least).
