Flicking through the music channels this morning - MTV, MTV2, MTV Base (aka MTV Black), The Box, Kerrang ("Shreeeedeeer"), etc... - it was so bad it made me turn the TV off. It's not the fact that there are so many dalendless shids out there at the moment, it's been like that for ages, it's the fact that none of them can carry a decent tune. You'd think these companies pumping thousands into promotion for their little manufactured puppets would take a second to actually write a good tune - it's not that difficult, it's only pop music - but everything I've been hearing lately has been awful, awful rehashes of the manufactured pop acts from the 70's. Nothing that makes me stop and listen for even a second.

I heard a pretty decent pop tune by a band called 'Bumblebees', I think the track was called 'Ride the Pony' or somert like that. Good stuff, kind of like Beck or Cornelius.

The Chemical Brothers' new track featuring the Flaming Lips is great too. It's called Golden Path, and it rocks particularly hard.

Oh, and The Darkness are brilliant. Don't listen to the non-believers, they are stupid and wrong.

I'll put up with pop, but the manufactured stuff is awful. When Hearsay and Sclub were both disbaded I celebrated muchly.

The trouble with pop is, it's all fake. The groups are told what to do and say by their management. The other problem is that they can't play instruments and never play live.

Give me real rock, punk and metal bands any day.

I was gonna say St. Anger, but I thought people may say it's "old". The Darkness suck. And their singer with his shirt open makes him look gay. And their music is crap.

Tehehe. What of that outburst Ali? :0D

Pop music sucks. And manufactured pop is even worse.

The Darkness should fit the bill.

No no, it's the manufactured bands that are evil. Pop music is meant as fun, lively, entertaining - everything it has stopped being. There's nothing better than hearing a catchy little tune that you can hum to yourself, but that doesn't exist anymore thanks to crap tabloid acts like the Fast Food Rockers taking up all the airplay.

I'm not talking about the classic acts, I've got plenty of them to keep me happy. It's just the new pop ones that just aren't...pop! The last pop song I genuinely liked was that Liberty X one where they were all in leather for the video. Since then - nothing's caught my attention as a little bit of throw-away pop to listen to for a few minutes.
