OK. I think this could format your Laptop, i'm not sure cos it's something this guy told me over MSN (but he's a programmer so i trust him... almost)

I don't accept any responsibility for any damage this may cause (lol)

Write this in notepad

@echo hello
@format C:
@echo Y

Then save it as format.bat (make sure you have all files selected)

Go to the folder you saved it in then double click (or however you want to open it) a percent bar should come up and then poof, format complete... it should ask for a back up disc and apparantly according to this guy you need a system disc aswell :S

Ok, this is probably only good for if you have lots of illegal stuff and you hear the police knocking your door down :D

I have one for my comp, on Win 98, there is a red floppy and 2 cds ( a red and green). First I put the Disk in, then boot my comp, it then gives me some options and if you select the one for restore to manufacturers settings it tells you to put in the disks etc. SO do you have a floppy which goes with 'em? I also tried using the disks 1st but there is no way off running them. Ie i needed the disk. Perhaps a quick call to the manufacturers will help....

I have a XP recovery CD, phoned Samsung (laptop makers) last week and if I did format hard drive, all the necessary files are on the recovery CD which is a good start, never got around to formatting hard drive, mainly because I couldn't do it in DOS (file currently in se blah blah blah). Back to the subject, I think your CD should autoplay ? mine does then gives couple of options like repair or re-install, try exploring the CD and running the relevant .exe file this should also give you the option to reformat and partition before installing.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE WINDOWS SERIAL CODE THINGY BEFORE REFORMATTING

Why do you want to reformat by the way ?
