Not really relevant, but is connected with the PS2. I was wondering if any of you could recommend a TV for me to get that would show off all the bells and whistles of the PS2 games. I have got a Dedicated DVD Player, but I want my PS2 to have a dedicated TV. I was thinking around the 28" Models as they could show it all off well. Any ideas or recommendations? And if you do, where is the cheapest place to Order one from???

I have decided not to get that ultimate QED Sqart Cable, I have decided to instead try out a S-Video Cable and the Premium Scart Cable I ordered with the machine, and then see which one is best out of the 2, but it looks like S-Video as that is more recent, so it should be better than Scart, but I will see when I go to Richer Sounds on Friday to buy one!

They have a Pro S-Video Cable for £19.95, and looks good!

Okay, before you splash the cash, how about asking for some impartial advice at somewhere like Tandy? Or even a local Sony Centre.

Don't say you have a DVD player (then you can walk out without being persuaded to but a cable there and then!) - just say that you are considering buying one, and would like to know the best connection to use for the ultimate picture quality.

The thing is that it would cost me £19.95 to find out how good this S-Video actually is, and I do not exactly have money to burn, just as much as the next person!

I would like to go ahead and try it out, but I always thought that a Scart Cable was the best, but then if I did get S-Vieo and it was an amazing Picture, then I would save myself £60 from getting this Pro-Cable by QED!!!

Well, I read time and time again that RGB SCART gives you the best quality.

However, I have never used S-video, so I couldn't say with 100% certainty.

I'm not sure about S-video, but with RGB SCART, the Red, Green and Blue components of the picture are carried along their own individual wires, just like on a PC's RGB monitor. The fact that a SCART lead also carries audio is largely irrelevant, as the audio signals travel down their own cables too. In a shielded cable, these individual wires are protected against external and internal cross-interference.

So my guess is that you'd be hard-pressed to do better. You could always try and ask for a demo of each type somewhere first.

I was about to buy that cable today when I spoke to Richer Sounds, and they said that S-Video is BETTER than a Scart Cable? Is this true then? He said that because it only does Visual, the quality on a dedicated DVD Player would be better than any other cable?

Is this true or was he telling me porkies???

I assume you're talking about the SQUART cable?

It sounds ideal, though I'll admit I've not heard of QED before. But that's not to say they're no good!

Thanks for the advice, but there has been this certain High-Quality Cable that has caught my eye, and I am very Tempted to buy it. The Cable's cost Varies with the length, but normally it will cost £50 (1 Metre) or £60 (2 Metre)

The site this cable is on is: WWW.QED.CO.UK

Please tell me if this Cable is worth the money, as it looks the part, I just need some re-assurance from all of you Hard-Core Fans who know what they are talking about!

That's because your TV is using the composite A/V signal and not the RGB signal... in which case you may as well just use the composite cable and SCART socket-adapter block that came with your PS2 and forget about the SCART lead altogether!

Right...just to clear this little problem up with the "Green" picture on the DVD's...

This has been done by sony to prevent the copying of DVD's. The solution is NOT in the type of Scart lead you have...instead it is in the type of TV you have...most new TV's have 2 scart connections on the back...one RGB and one Non-RGB.

So by definition you do not need a Non-RGB scart lead as the TV Demodulates the picture for you.

Just plug your current Scart lead into the Non-RGB scart socket and your DVD's will look fine!

Hope this helps some people and possibly saves a few people some money!
