They have a Pro S-Video Cable for £19.95, and looks good!
Don't say you have a DVD player (then you can walk out without being persuaded to but a cable there and then!) - just say that you are considering buying one, and would like to know the best connection to use for the ultimate picture quality.
I would like to go ahead and try it out, but I always thought that a Scart Cable was the best, but then if I did get S-Vieo and it was an amazing Picture, then I would save myself £60 from getting this Pro-Cable by QED!!!
However, I have never used S-video, so I couldn't say with 100% certainty.
I'm not sure about S-video, but with RGB SCART, the Red, Green and Blue components of the picture are carried along their own individual wires, just like on a PC's RGB monitor. The fact that a SCART lead also carries audio is largely irrelevant, as the audio signals travel down their own cables too. In a shielded cable, these individual wires are protected against external and internal cross-interference.
So my guess is that you'd be hard-pressed to do better. You could always try and ask for a demo of each type somewhere first.
Is this true or was he telling me porkies???
It sounds ideal, though I'll admit I've not heard of QED before. But that's not to say they're no good!
The site this cable is on is: WWW.QED.CO.UK
Please tell me if this Cable is worth the money, as it looks the part, I just need some re-assurance from all of you Hard-Core Fans who know what they are talking about!

That's because your TV is using the composite A/V signal and not the RGB signal... in which case you may as well just use the composite cable and SCART socket-adapter block that came with your PS2 and forget about the SCART lead altogether!
This has been done by sony to prevent the copying of DVD's. The solution is NOT in the type of Scart lead you have...instead it is in the type of TV you have...most new TV's have 2 scart connections on the back...one RGB and one Non-RGB.
So by definition you do not need a Non-RGB scart lead as the TV Demodulates the picture for you.
Just plug your current Scart lead into the Non-RGB scart socket and your DVD's will look fine!
Hope this helps some people and possibly saves a few people some money!
