The great Escape (True story)
The Lord of the Flies (Brilliant book)
Read it quite a few years ago. Very good, though. The film was atrocious.
'The Tenant of Wildfell Hall'(Anne Bronte)
- Brilliant and Anne is definately underrated as the 'forgotten Bronte sister.' I thought this book was better than 'Wuthering Heights'
'Popcorn' (Ben Elton)
-good book, but not to everyone's taste (my mom hated it- but she did give up before it got interesting!)
'The Beach' Can't remember the Auther right now
-an absolutely stunning read. I had begun to doubt my own interest in literature (worrying considering I have accepted an English Literature uni course) but this book has restored my faith- a gripping read.
'Oliver Twist' (Dickens) Meh. I wasn't too sure about this. Dickens had a great talent for writing, but this book wasn't consistantly 'pick up-able' to me. Don't get me wrong, some parts were beautiful (like the character 'Rose' who was sadly overlooked in the musical version.) The musical actually did ruin this book for me slightly- I wish I had read the book before the musical!
'Pride and Predjudice' (Jane Austin)
-Beautiful story (probably more of a Chic-fic though) I still think 'Emma' is better, but Austin is superlative in her style of writing and her ability to capture emotions perfectly.
I have just started 'The Hound of the Baskervilles', so I will let you know about that one!
Also "Porno" which has already been recommended.
So if you haven't already, I would recommend reading them.
