It has them both in it? Hmmm - I'll have to give that a read. Mr Terry Lawson is a very interesting character.

"'Popcorn' (Ben Elton)
-good book, but not to everyone's taste (my mom hated it- but she did give up before it got interesting!)"

Is the play based on the book or the book based on the play or are you reading the script?

Either way, I've seen the play. Very tongue in cheek, very Natural Born Killers/Tarintino esque, but in a ridiculing sort of way. I'd reccomend seeing it, or at least reading the book.

Empire of the Sun by J.G. Ballad- This is a great read if you enjoy prisoner of war novels, and it's set in China during WW2. It's amazingly well written, quite long and is based around one person's personal struggle.

In Durance Vile by John Brown- An autobiographical book about spying in a POW camp, which is surprisingly funny as well as gripping- especially stealing the SS's cars, swimming across canals to get to brothels and generally annoying Krauts. AND IT'S ALL TRUE!

"The Outsider" by Albert Camus. Quite a short book but perpetually intriguing when looking at a normal man's lack of emotions when dealing with everyday life. Emotions we take for granted.

"A Clockwork Orange" by Anthony Burgess. Another good book. I must have read it a few times now but once you acclimatise yourself to the writing style, there's no going back.

I agree with Porno, Its excellent, but also read Glue and Trainspotting if you like that (Glue has Terry and Rab etc in)

Also read John O'Farrells 'The best a man can get' and 'this is your life'

There both short, but brilliant.

And Ben Elton's 'Dead Famous' a brilliant whodunnit taking a swipe at the 'reality show'
