"Really hurt"

I was just talking to my best friend and she's going to Zimbabwe for a couple of weeks next month. She was told she can bring a friend and she's chosen to bring a friend from college she's known 6 months. I thought she was going to ask me when she rang, we've been best friends for 16 years!

To make matters worse she said the reason they chose the two weeks they're going is because nothing important is happening then. In other words, she's completely forgotten my 21st birthday is during the second week she's away! We were supposed to be organising a party together and she's completely forgotten.

I didn't remind her when she rang. It didn't feel right. But I'm really hurt by the fact that she didn't invite me or remember my birthday's coming up.

Am I being unreasonable thinking this?

The only consolation is that *when* she does remember your birthday, she'll probably be consumed with remorse and make it up to you big time.

Personally, I'd demand a sexual favour, but I also have a sick mind.

This might be the reason she does want to take you along, especially if you're very camp, I don't know what the general reaction to homosexuals is in Zimbabwe but it's not a very tolerant country.

Someone's probably already said this, but I reckon she might be taking you, but not saying anything until the last few days. Your big birthday surprise is a trip to Zimbabwe where you will have a party.

But anyway this is now going to be my first official happy birthday to Lindgren. Here we go. Happy Birthday Lindgren! That should make me the first to say it for your 21st birthday I believe but I could well be wrong.
