Most people seem to think the XBox will either be a massive success or fail miserably. I'm more tempted to go with the latter of the two if what I've just read turns out to be true.

Videogames.com news has posted an article saying the XBox may retail for $400 when it goes on sale ($400 = £400 by some strange quirk of maths so that's bad news for us as well). Given that, by the time it's released, the PS2 will have fallen in price (probably to about £200) and the GameCube will be in everyones face at some ridiculously low price that Nintendo are flaunting.

In Japan at least, there is very little interest in the console so the chances of major success there are small anyway. If it's priced at twice as much as it's most expensive competitor it'll have to be far better than them both so that people will even consider buying it.

Serves them right for nicking someone elses name - then again what do you expect from Microsoft.

Yeah, I know er-no... But I'm going to buy the games only one, because I would have to wait longer for the DVD one, and I already have a DVD player anyway.

And it would be more expensive.

Even better, how about those two machines AND a Gamecube all lined up on a desk playing Deus Ex, maybe then we could make better informed judgements about relative values.

But of course, this ain't never gonna happen...Is it?

Not really unless, Nintendo make all the companies, put mario in the place of the Deux Ex guy and have fireball instead of 'adult guns!!!' Bless 'em!
