As many as you like really.

If you've got a router plugged in and doing your ADSL connection for you, then to this router you attach a AP unit (access point) then you should be able to have as many laptop or wireless connections that the AP unit can handle.

Obviously the more you share your ADSL connection the more the speed will decrease for each indiviual unit, but then if your sharing files across a 10mb LAN then the speeds should be ok.

How many are you thinking about?

How many computers can you hook up to the internet using a wireless connection?

Yep I have a wireless connection at home, connected up through my network and gives me coverage just about all over the house.

If I need to gain additional coverage I can move the AP unit if need be, at the moment it's upstairs in my bedroom and I can get access to web browsing and transferring files from the front of my house downstairs.

Also extends quite well into the garden which is nice :)

Speeding tickets, sorry they don't get issued to people with cars like mine :P

JOKE!

Nope none yet, although I've got no sympathy for doing 50+ in a 30 area!

have you got a wireless connection Mark ? I will be using it indoors, my cable box is downstairs in the living room and I may want to use laptop in the bedroom, is this considered the norm or would I need something a bit more powerful to make it up the stairs ?

thanks

been done for speeding yet ? I got done by a camera, 51 in a 30 two weeks ago, 3 points and forty quid :(

What's the maximum range your looking to use it with?

If your in your house and depending on how big it is then you should get coverage quite easily. If it's a sprawling mansion then you'll need additional equipment.

I'd suggest the netgear package of an AP unit and card off of where you were looking.

If you want access out in the garden then the best place to mount the AP unit is near a window looking onto the garden, you'll get better coverage that way.

Email me at home if you want any further info.

don't know, look at some cards/ap's on ebuyer.co.uk, they have comprehensive descriptions as to what they/you can do etc.

I was gonna buy one for my laptop, i bid for one on ebay but lost it. The speeds arn't that great, and the distance you have to be from the other computer you are trying to network with are pretty poor. I was just wondering are you only allowed to link two computers using Wireless Network cards.
