Illmatic is a great album, there is no doubting that...However if Nas was a great he would have produced another by now...I have been disappointed by most of his subsequent albums.
To be fair the same can be said of Snoop & Jay z...neither reached the heights of their debuts! No dening they're all good though!

'Street's Desciple' itself is a good track, probably the best on the album, although 'A Message To The Feds, Sincerely We, The People' and 'Coon Picnic (These are our heroes)' get a mention because of their names alone (they're pretty decent tracks, too). The rest of the album is pretty poor, to be honest. I like Nas but I don't think he's great - he lacks the catchy production and tunes of the best rappers, although he is a darn good lyricist.
Nas bores me to be honest. I've got Stillmatic and Illmatic, but very rarely listen to them. He's no doubt a good lyricist, he's just not that interesting to listen to though.
Illmatic is as far as my Nas collection goes.
