There are several jobs where I live that I can do, except they're all permanent or 6 month contracts, while I'm just looking for a two month one before uni starts. There is an obvious way round this; apply for the job and then quit two months in, just before I leave - has anyone done something similar before to get a job?

The other, more common jobs (retailer in Dixons, HMV, etc.) have all been taken up by other pesky students who were quicker in handing their CV in.

Try giving your cv to a temping agency. They should be able to help.

Call me radical, but I think all jobs should be banned.

If my political party - the 2-Fingers Party - wins the next General Election, you'll never again have to contemplate and partake in the subtle blackmail that is the Jobs Market.

Yes, we'd all be pludged into a new Dark Age of chaos, where lawless revelry would dominate, but real freedom is a roaming beast, not a tamed animal which is allowed out for a walk every now and then.

[not entirely serious]

Agencies have a habit of messing you around though and trying to get you to do any old job that's going. Usually one offs while you cover for people who have phoned in sick or whatever.

If you did get a permanent job and quite after two weeks all you need to do is just not include it on your CV, I mean whos to know?

Saying that though for temp work an angency is probably you're best bet.

OK, I'll pop down to some agencies tomorrow.

Funnily enough, I do live in South Wales, but a bit too far from Oakwood to get a job there.

I'd join an agency, if I were ye.

They should be able to get you temping stuff.

Or maybe look into something seasonal, touristy?

But most of all, join an agency.
