Well, we all know how much I loved my large collection of games and how long it took me to find them don't we?

Guess what.

They've gone.

So have the pictures.

So have my silly little flash animations and downloads.

So did the forum I had up.

I've just noticed that the forum didn't work when I checked on Monday. I don't know how, but whoever/whatever did it only deleted stuff from my folders containing the larger files. The folder with my reviews wasn't touched.

I'm annoyed now. Because I actually said I would back them all up because I haven't got a copy of them anymore! So I have no games.

:c(

I'm gonna email Freeola tomorrow just to find out if they had any problems. I've got to find all the piccies and get all the games back again now.

And re-upload them.

And pay money.

Damn.

This is Phil, P8ssed off, signing out to have a shower because I smell!

Goodbye.

For 15 minutes.

It doesn't want to work now. But before, if you entered a URL after that ?page= bit, it would load that page up. Thus allowing soeone with too much time the ability to do something...

I don't know how they'd do it but it could be something like including a file manager...

I wasn't aware of how it could be done. Someone just told me that people could include external URLs, and he gave me another bit of code that excludes external URLS...

Don't ask me how it works, I was just told that but I can see some logic too it.

But as Pocketmonkey.co.uk has gone too I'd guess that someone's p*ssed about... I still don't get why they only deleted from a few folders though?

Thanks! :D

I had a look at my control panel and everything off the HTDOCS folder has gone, except other folders. Weird that.

From that structure, they could do as you say, and include their own external scripts, which could execute a delete task, although this couldn't be done in PHP, as and PHP code coming from an external source wouldn't be sent, just the outputted HTML.

I'm not sure if a CGI/EXE program could have done it, as I don't know anything about them.

What is the code that you've been given to block the external URL's? I'd assume its something to do with the eregi() function checking for a http or something.com from with the $page variable.

I hope Freeola are able to get your sites back up from their tapes, if they have them (which I am sure they said make from time to time).

All the data files I made had extra bits in the filename that aren't visible in URLs, so even if you tried to include one you couldn't.

Not true. Web servers don't send out the php code as they are told to process the pages before hand. Usually though they only know to process pages because of the file extension. Change the extension from php and more as likely, it won't be processed, thus you could include php code from an external source.

How do you do this?

And I don't understand how it's only wiped random folders...

It could have taken the whole site down but it didn't...

Hmmmmmmm.

Simple. First dialup with the FREEOLA phone number, using your SR username and password, then go to the control panel and follow the instructions there. Then "webspace" and "FTP". You can also enter it as a URL in the location thingy (which is essentially what the control panel does). You'll get to see all you folders in the Windows...window?
