The "Freeola Customer Forum" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
Guess what.
They've gone.
So have the pictures.
So have my silly little flash animations and downloads.
So did the forum I had up.
I've just noticed that the forum didn't work when I checked on Monday. I don't know how, but whoever/whatever did it only deleted stuff from my folders containing the larger files. The folder with my reviews wasn't touched.
I'm annoyed now. Because I actually said I would back them all up because I haven't got a copy of them anymore! So I have no games.
:c(
I'm gonna email Freeola tomorrow just to find out if they had any problems. I've got to find all the piccies and get all the games back again now.
And re-upload them.
And pay money.
Damn.
This is Phil, P8ssed off, signing out to have a shower because I smell!
Goodbye.
For 15 minutes.
Meantime, I've been reading about all the vulnerabilities in PHP, in the database at http://www.securityfocus.com. Worrying how even a simple script, that contains the "phpinfo()" function, can be made to execute someone else's code. This may have been fixed in PHP4.3.2.
Anyone know what version of PHP we're on at Freeola?
"No More Sewage Back-Ups"
I just found it quite appropriate for some reason....
Go to http://www.fasthosts.co.uk and chech their terms and conditions, as well as what service support they offer.
If you find these to be good enough for you (fasthosts are a proper Web hosting company, not an ISP like Freeola) then the package on offer by the site you mention should be fine.

Ha, I'm not going that far, not moving either. I did just find out that I lost an important piece of coursework though. Buggers.
Dear Freeola Customer,
We have identified your account as one of those recently affected by an
unusual and unexpected disk error on one of our servers.
As a result, you may find that some of your web pages have disappeared.
To resolve the problem, please re-upload your web files via the normal
FTP method, as described at http://www.freeola.info.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Yours Faithfully,
Freeola Customer Support Centre
It seems like an occasional problem, but they don't keep backups, so complaining will probably do very little.
The moral of the story is always keep backups!

I was waiting for someone to make that exact same comment!
I actually stole my design off of that. But's it's far more complicated than my site. Compicated, but made easy.
As I say, 'old git friendly.'
