... and while it's comfy, it's not exactly a bed! I stayed up on purpose (I was waiting for news about a friend who's ill) and saw the dawn with the obligatory morning chrous from the birds.
Despite a few aches and pains, I'm feeling pretty good and have got *loads* of work done (working from has some serious advantages) so I'm seriously considering doing this on a regular basis, say once a fortnight, when I've got a big workload.
Does anyone know of any dangerous side effects I should be aware of and does anyone else engage in a similar practice?
The longest I've stayed awake before (excluding parties where) was 29 hours: wake at 8am in Florida; fly to Dallas; fly to Gatwick; drive to Cheltenham; drive to Worcester; drive to Kidderminster and work for 8 hours and finally to bed at 9pm.

Thanks.

That's okay. Accidental things don't bother - if it's done on purpose: that's when I react!

I went a bit nutty

So far I've had less than 2 and half hours sleep in the last 52 or so hours and I'm feeling okay. I do sit on my a**e all day though!
> Sorry man. What happened?
He went to the doctor's in January with stomach pains and got sent home with some pain killers. In April he got some more pains and hadn't been to the loo for 8 days and so got admitted to hospital where they did a scan and found a blockage. When they opened him up to take a look they found cancer in his bowel, stomach and liver. He had one set of chemotherapy but was too ill for a second dose so he spent his final days in hospital.
The hospital called his wife on Wednesday night to say he was deteriorating fast and that she should come and see him in case he didn't make it through the night. He recovered a bit but then died early this morning.
He was 53 and leaves a wife and son.
It may sound like a cliché but he really was one of the good guys. I'll really miss him (I do already!).
So, I'm awake again now, and I don't think I could sleep even if I tried. I've just written a list of names and numbers of people I have to inform about the sad event but I'd better wait for a more suitable time ...
