That is alot of price difference for not alot os noticable speed difference...
When i first bought one i got a 2.4, i was then going to go upto a 2.8 but the price difference was just rediculasly stupid...
Discuss...
Well my dad has orderd his 2.8 and i am having his 2.4...
I've been going along with the different core idea from the beginning. I win.
MHz...
It's not a few more MHZ. In fact if you had ANY clue you'd know it's no more MHZ at all, what it is is a completely different core - well ok, not completely different, but different fab nonetheless, and also it has more L2 cache which equals more speed. THAT's why it costs more.
Ever since I can remember, there's always been a certain point where a couple of mhz extra can cost up to £100 more.
It's simple, you don't buy the more expensive one when you won't notice a difference.
Unless you're a fool.
AMD AthlonXP 2600 [2.08GHZ 333] OEM
£75.20 including VAT
AMD AthlonXP 2600 [2.08GHZ 333] RET
£78.73 including VAT
Heh. Not much difference in retail and OEM there.
For the 2800:
AMD AthlonXP 2800 [2.08GHZ 333] OEM
£129.25 inc. VAT
AMD AthlonXP 2800 [2.08GHZ 333] RET
£139.83 inc. VAT
2600 is Thoroughbred B and 2800 is Barton.
Has to be the reason for the price difference.
