What do you do? You chuck down a bit of alcohol down and then you begin to feel all happy and weird, walk home funny, then you go to bed feeling crap and maybe throw up.
Next day you gloat to your mates how much you drunk and they call you 'hard'
I have nothing against drinking alcohol and im 18 but getting drunk in my opinion has no purpose at all. As Sheepy says 'im on holiday'
Yes I do like having a laugh but drinking is not what i call a laugh, yes you have laugh while being drunk but that's under the influence of alcohol and not yourself.
I've read Tony Adams autobiography about him fighting against his Alcholism plus his life and career. Alcohol ruined his life and almost his career until he decided to stop. In my opinion drinking is all brought up by peer pressure, i like a a beer or 2 or some other alcoholic drink but drinking more is has no sense of all other than making you feel good if you have had a bad day for a night and making you 'hard' Oh and 'pulling' girls/guys while you are both drunk and gloating to your mates is not cool, it might be fun but try getting someone using the more sensible way.
Do people have no logic? Even when a fooballer dies people have not learnt how short life is and how shorter it can get.
My friend spends about £80 when she goes out and has the cheek to call me a cheapskate because I only spend £10-15 (including taxi!) She is the fool as she is guzzling her week's wages down her neck!
> I think its completely understable that people get addicted to alcohol
This is true enough. I find it sad when people tell me that they cannot sleep unless they have a couple of drinks before they go to bed.
Also I never drink at home while 'just watching the telly' and even if we have a party I always put the kettle on for me and I've been known to do this at other peoples houses too.
I only enjoy a drink if I'm socialising in the pub.
The last time I drunk heavily I found myself down a dark alleyway puking acid in a two hour swirling/shivering hell session.
I can't handle big drinking. For me, it's utterly pointless.
Nowadays I'm much more mellow. Drinking is to be enjoyed so you get a slight nice buzz - not a vomiting, headache inducing, paraplegic trip!
Why?
I dont like the feeling of being drunk.
Each to their own though.

I'm with VenomByte on this. Drinking isn't immature it can be fun in moderation and as you grow older your capacity for holding your alcohol seems to lessen anyway.
For example I used to go to a rock club Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights but first we went to the pub and we even went drinking on Saturday lunchtime. Believe me that is a lot of alcohol. On occasion I have been so drunk on a Friday morning that the other girl in the office had to check my work until I sobered up about lunchtime. I was rarely sick but I cannot drink like that anymore. It took years to build up my capacity to drink loads but seems like only months to lose it.
Now I still do sometimes get drunk but it is never planned. It happens that I am having a good time, I don't notice the amount of alcohol I have consumed and I only know about it the next morning or the next time I'm out and you get told what you've done. It's all good fun though and great for getting rid of any inhibitions. (Note here - I have never been so drunk that I would join in the Karaoke (sp)).
Also it is a very rare drunk who will admit at the time that they are drunk, usually they will only admit to being a bit 'tipsy'.
