As you know I can't reply so I'm posting my point as a new topic:

It was mentioned on SR that PS2 games can't currently even come near to the quality and playability, etc of Dreamcast games!

In my opinion I think that PS2 games will get better! There graphics will be improved upon, the sound quality will get better, games will be more playable and so on!

Remember the PS2 which I will not touch with radiation proof gloves has only been out for less than a month so the games will have been rushed a lot like the console was for it's release!

However this does not mean I have changed my opinion at all about Sony! I still hate their console market! I've got a great diskman from them though!

Actually, I really liked the first Ridge Racer....but anyway, Grix's words of wisdom ring true, the Dreamcast is better!

Even if PS2 do get decent games the machine still is a load of scrap.

I've just been playing VF2 on the Sega Saturn, and although the graphics are dated and the characters seem to fly when they jump, the game is still a superbly playable affair! It took me ages to find out how to throw, but the game is very impressive, but still ultimately lacking.

I don't think there are any perfect games on any console - we will always find things to pick at, however I must say NiGHTS was pretty close to pefection.

Ant, I despair:

'Errrrr...may I just point out the some of the PS2 games out at the moment are awesome??

I don't care what people say, TTT rules, Smuggler's Run kicks @ss, and in a few weeks we'll have the best driving game EVER-GT3!!!'

1. Gran Turismo 3 is out in June in the UK, and I doubt if it will live up to theose screen shots at game revolution.com.

2. TTT is so poor! But then you don't know what Soul Calibur is like.

3. Smuggler's run. Hmmm.

4. None of the games on PS2 are awesome in my view, but they are in yours because you don't know about the Dreamcast games which are on a whole new better level than PS2 games.

It's like a group of people - they've been trapped in the UK for all their lives waiting for a day of sunshine - eventually they get a few hours of Brightness, but then drizzle rules over it. These people are nearly always miserable - like the weather.

Then there's another group, they have chosen to move away from the UK and now live in Florida - they have Sunshine everyday! These people are so much happier than the rainy people! Ok, so there are occasional Tornados etc with this group (i.e. Roadsters), but the majority is sunshine.

One group are Dreamcast owners - the others - they are PS2 owners.

You know what I'm trying to say.

Since Shenmue was released (an original title) there has been much speak of the next part in the saga.

Sequels are not a bad thing!

Oh, I think it will!!

I've played Soul Calibur on the DC an while it's good, it's too easy and a bit dull after a while. The graphics are good, but there's little skill involved - button bashing really!
TTT has flaws, but is a more involving and playable game. The graphics are better (Probably) than SC and if I had to choose one it'de have to be TTT.

In order of preference for me, after having played them all:

1) Final Fantasy VIII
2) Shenmue
3) Final Fantasy VII

And for me to put a DC game above a FF game, that's saying something, but it still wasn't as playable for me as FF8. Great graphics though.

It depends if the sequel is exactly the same as the first - in the case of FIFA and Tomb Raider - sequels are a bad thing. Shenmue doesn't really have a sequel - it'll be different. Ok so, Ridge Racer - many sequels, but still it changed throughout, still poor though.

SC is so much better than TTT, but then thats my opinion.

Do you really think FF8 is better than FF7?

I thought it looked better, but was far too short in comparison to all then other FFs

FF8 had a much more fiddly junctioning system, but once I got the hang of it I realised that there were many more ways to develop the team characters then in 7, plus some of those FMV sequences were out of this world.

FF7 and more sub-quests, but FF8 just edged it for all those twiddly bits, which I like in a game.

Twiddly should be defined as an integral function of any gameplay. IMHO. It's not for everyone though.
