Amazing that you can think that spending £160 on a home network is 'well worth it'.
And while I personally wouldn't use a wireless networking solution, I can unders**tand why some people might. Wireless network bandwidths are more than ample for internet connection sharing.

Amazing that I can think wot?!?!
And wireless is sh*t compared to wires. Wireless is 1Mbps and ethernet cable is 10/100!!!
I would go with cabling or you can also run a network through the power sockets...don't ask me how but i promise you it can be done. Coz all of the power sockets in ur house will be connected in some way b i together or through the main circuit breakers.

The general concepts are the same, sans wires

Not really. Wireless is slow by LAN standards but has ample speed if all you're doing is downloading from and uploading to the internet. However it is a lot more expensive and insecure than a standard LAN - can you not just run a cable upstairs? They can be up to 100m long without the signal degrading (provided you don't bend them sharply).

That's amazing that you can think that, as it would have cost anyone using software ICS about £50
I'm going to get a new PC for my Bedroom, but I can't get BB in my room (No phone socket) so Wireless is the only way to go. This PC I'm using has BB, so if I were to go wireless, would it also alter my Download speeds?
SS
You can make one of your computers an internet gateway but then that computer has to be on if n e of the computers wanna access the internet.
I would go with buying a router. Buy a router, 2 ethernet cards (for two comps) and however much cabling you think you need from each computer to the router.
Then your set up, you have your very own 10/100 LAN and usually a 8Mbps router. The router is always connected to the internet as it only dials up when its turned on and thus that is usually the first time and you need never to turn it off. There you go, sorted. Reasonably expensive but worth it.
It cost me £160 to set up my network.
2 ethernet cards = £10 each
Router = £100
All the cabling i needed to run to 3 computers = £50
There you go...well worth it.
Watch this space for more info.
And i have 2 network cards already, gonna be using the nforce 2 onboard lan and the network card in this old one so all i need is a router and some cable when i get the money.
