Well as far as im concerned anyway :-D

Lets look at the facts:

United say there is 'some firm interest'

There is speculation Friendly from the media (Surprise, Suprise)

One idiot from Barcelona who wants to be employed by them starts it off - "If im elected we will sign Beckham, it is all in place"
and then changed his mind to "I did't says that - blame the media"

Great piece of polical gain that, im sure Blair and Bush would have been proud of him.

Ac Milan - well .... Same kind of nonsense but in different forms - the manager says "He's top of our list, we are out to get Beckham"

The Chairman turns around and says - "Beckham will not be joining us, we dont want him - we can't afford him!"

Then we come to Real Madrid - The only real interest they have in Beckham is the finanacial gain from Merchandise and Marketing, Luis Figo belongs to their right wing and "....shall not be moved" therefore Beckham would probabaly keep the bench with a filthy Scouser, why would he want that?

Having said that - where does that Leave us?

In my opinion Man Utd (being a plc) would no doubt accept a £35 Million offer from a major club, but I doubt anyone other than Real Madrid would able to afford him.

Therefore I think Beckham will be playing at United next season (Hopefully)

Don't be impudent. Beckham may have left, he may return. I don't know, for sure, but don't say bad things about great players.

Either that or Fergie will spend the money (after the board have taken their nice slice of the pie and probably leave him with about £5 Mil) on load of youth players just so he can win the Youth Cup again.

The thing is though, to us that would be great if United signed all those nice players - but you know what Fergie's like, he'll probabaly decide that he has a decent enough squad and stick Solskjaer wide right and be done with.

Yea if they sign Little Ronaldo for £9 Mil and then Kewell for £5.6 Mmil along with Robinson for the reported £4 Mil that still gives just over £10 Mil for a striker unless Kluivert comes and a defender. Mexes would be a great buy.

Damn, this is ludicrous. They can't let Beckham go.

I hope it's a good deal like Kluivart coming the other way or something?

Bah, what a sad day.

I think that is the reason they have to do something.

Their main rivals Real are considered the best team in Europe at the moment and this means someone promising to bring Beckham has a very good chance of winning the election.

Utd have stated that they value Beckham at £30m and I guess this will be the price. In the current market this is a good price for a player with only a couple of years left on his contract.

Hopefully Utd will use it to buy a few players, if they get Ronnie from PSG for £9m I would class this as good business, with £21m over to buy a new keeper and hopefully Kewell.

I wonder how much they have agreed on?

Anything less than £30/35 Million would be ludicrous and I fail to see how Barcelona can afford that amount of money since they havent won any major trophies in a while.

Unless of course Laporta has funds.
