Me buying a new pc.. I got a TFT and keyboard/mouse etc so I'm trying to spec up something decent.

This is what I have come up with so far, with my budget of £600.

Comments please..

Asus A7V8X-LSA1394 DDR333 KT400 x8AGP +Lan+USB2+ATA150+FW 1394

AMD *Retail* Athlon XP 2600+ *333 FSB* (2.08 GHz) with AMD Heat Sink Fan 3Yr

80Gb Maxtor Serial ATA (ATA-150) (7200rpm, 8MB Cache) 1yr

1.44Mb Samsung Floppy Disk Drive

Lite-On 52x24x52 CDRW IDE Burnproof Retail Kit Inc Media/Software (subject to change)

I know they are cheaper but if you see the benchmarks it pi$$es over any IDE drive. Plus I will be getting a second one in a month or so and RAID-ing them.

My opinion is..

I wouldnt bother with the SATA hard drive i would go with an IDE hard drive ATA 133 7200 rpm, they are cheaper and you get mote gig for you money, 80gb is small for todays use, apart form that then it is a pretty good machine but you might want to go with the radeon ideas as they mostly have hardware support for Direct x 9 and they are coming down in price.

Craw will probably have upgraded this machine to an Athlon 128bit 12Ghz by the time you actually go and buy it :S
