All done now...

The winner is... Gemma Bright, with her colourful character "Essar". Geddit? S... R? Essar? Genius. And here he/she/it is.

http://image.reserve.co.uk/www/public/images/art/competitionwinner.jpg

Congrats Gemma, you've won the game of your choice, worth up to the value of £50 (check the rules and conditions on Gameaday.co.uk for more details)

-------------------------------------

After the debacle that was the Mag Shoot competition (in which people singularly failed to take any exciting pictures of their magazine but decided to take photos of it in mid-air for some reason), it's time to come back down to earth with a good old fashioned Extra GAD.

What we want you to do for this competition is easy; we want you to design a mascot for Special Reserve. Okay, chances are we're not going to use it, but we want to see what you can come up with. You can be as imaginative and out-there as you want (you can even be zany and bonkers!!!1), as long as you come up with a half-decent effort. If you really wanted, you could take it seriously and actually design a good one! Winning entries will win a game of their choice, the value depending on how good the entry is and what kind of mood I'm in. I'm expecting better entries for this one than the last competition. Please lord.

You've got until midnight June 15th to come up with a Special Reserve mascot, try and incorporate some SR-ness into him, like our example, Splatty here. You can post your entries in this thread if you wish, or send them to the usual Gameaday or Competitions e-mail address, or post them to Special Reserve Mascot Competition, Internet Department, 2 South Block, The Maltings, Sawbridgeworth, Herts, CM21 9JX.

It's all just a bit of fun! Hop to it, you cheese-eating monkeys!

Rover is just a typical name for a dog.

My drawing wont be similar though, which is mainly the point.

Well, seeing as though my scanner *is* infact rather crap, ive decided to send my entry off in the post. However, i'll run you through what ive done on the paper to give you folk a little idea.

-----

•The Happy SR Hippy - A hippy dude with shorts and tie-dye shirt holding 2 medallion things with the letters 'S' and 'R' in each. Finished off with his kick-butt shades and... weird... expression, he rules.
"Like, totally maaaan"

•Some chick - She has a weird face, also, but her bra is in the shape of two stars covering her boobies. The letters 'S' and 'R' are written on each star. She seems to have large boobies. Definately a huge selling point...

• SR-io! - Completely original idea, however, some people may say he looks strangely familiar. One person even said he looked *slightly* like Mario but with a yellow hat, t-shirt and red dungarees. I will take no responsibility for any copyright infringement.
"Its-a meeee, SR-ioooo"

•Johnny Wellyman - The SR hobo. Sitting outside the store 24/7 with his alcohol bottle hidden in a brown paper bag, Johnny holds his signs advertising the many promotions SR have. Scruffy clothes 'n'all, Johnny is the perfect mascot.

•Jeff the Giraffe - This is my favourite, simple but effective. Its a giraffe but the usual brown patches have been replaced with SR splats, making for a... err... comical... giraffe. But we all know giraffes are funny anyway.

•Crazy Steve - Just broke from prison, he cant speak. He twitches almost every other second. One eye larger than the other with one of those pink eye things, scruffy hair and a knife, Steve demands "FREE GAMES" hand written on a tattered piece of paper. Kids will love him.
*spasm spasm*

•Piérre - An artist type dude with one of those French hats, the goatee and paints. He only has red and yellow splats though, so paints the SR splat logo.
"Ooo lalaaa"

•Homo-SR-pian - A caveman dude holding a giant club and wearing bear foot shoes. His normal Fred Flintstone-esque attire has been splatted, much like Jeff the Giraffe... if you can imagine what I mean.
"Ugh ugh"

•Charlie - He's a dirty dog, pee-ing on the GAME logo and grinning about it. Thats not bad though. Thats good. Good boy Charlie.

•'Fat' Tony - I basically did a little pencil drawing of Tony in a mafia type mob-boss suit with one of those hats they wear. He lets the arms of his suit drop as he folds his arms inside the suit.
"I have-a the game, you brought da suitcase?"
*kiss of death*

•Hockirahjim The SR space alien dude... thing! - Dont ask about the name, I... err... made it up... yeah. A little green alien with oversized head and huge black eyes with his red and yellow space-ship abduct games with a bright green beam. Lovely.

•Rover The Top Dog for the SR Discount Network - I didnt get the name from the HMV dog, honest. But, he's a little fluffy dog with a lovely yellow crown upon his head.

•Karate Splatty - Basically, the splat thing with a face and yellow head-band doing a big flying kick and karate chop... at the same time!!!11112

I'd imagine, that the character would have to be cool. A Granny Figure, regardless of comedy value, wouldn't really increase Turnover at SR Towers!

It would probably have to be a male character, moreso a boy, rather than a man. Reason being, you don't really get cool girls and Male mascots are too 1989.

I'm thinkning more of a 'Viewtiful Joe' style character. A Powersuit to demonstrate well,... power, ability, status. Maybe some sunglasses to re-enforce a cool image. A Weapon could be good, but no rocket launchers, or replicas of Gulf War weapons!

I've got a perfect picture in my head... Me, Kylie Minogue, Some Body Chocolate, and a pair of handc.... sorry, my bad.

Anyway... now to put pen to paper, or screen, or grphics tablet. Or what!
