Ok ... update on right foot ... the swelling on outside ankle area has receeded and puncture wound has begun to heal. However, the rest of my foot, from ankle to toesis is black and the whole area feels 'prickly'. Certainly keeps your foot warm at night, whatever it is ;¬)
As of Oct 1st why bother buying expensive tax or insurance simply nip down to your local Tesco car park and rob a set of plates off a vehicle the same model and colour as your own, job done!
Hah, if only the tax wasn't registered to your address along with your car..
Guess I need to hobble off downstairs for breakfast. At least I'm slightly more mobile now.

They've been on the computer system for the last year, anyway, so the end of the month is really just a cut off point for showing tax discs. Police tend to check up on their systems now by number plate rather than looking for a little round disc, it's far easier for them.
Think you'll find that it's been on systems far longer ... I've re-taxed online for years, plus the old 'system' checked for valid MOT and Insurance! Apparently the new and improved version doesn't!
Now there's improvement for you! As for 'police' checking your number plate ... any police been up your street recently checking 'number plates' or anything else for that matter?
In Exeter they have over the last month or so, with those tax scanner vans.
We see quite a few police around here and they're usually pretty friendly. Still don't seem to have much power to solve petty crime, though.

Say if someone sells the vehicle in the first week of a month.
The owner will get an automatic road tax refund but not for the month that's just started - and the buyer will have to tax the vehicle from the start of the month if they want to drive it - double tax! #kerching
