Re. Safecom - Sounds like dodgy firmware.
I would ask in their support forum - but it looks like it's down at the moment!

Apart from the price - make sure Comet are selling the GT and not just a G !
If it's a DG834G then if you want the Broadcom chipset is MUST be a v4. It won't say on the box only on the label under the router!
This site has a nice comparison (it's not even one of my sites!).
The site owner also writes the excellent RouterStats monitoring software that I can highly recommend...

Nice, add another £50 on to that for Comet! Will have a look at ebay though.
My current router is a safecom GART2-4115 (same as SART2-4115).
It works wired, but not wireless since I updated the firmware. If I could get the wireless working on that then I'd be happy enough without buying a new one, but I've reset, reflashed the old firmware (2 different ones) and everything.
The main issue is that the Wireless page on the router menu doesn't appear to be there any more.

I paid £15 for an ex-SKY one on eBay - which you then re-flash with either standard firmware or use a custom one (DGTeam).

I've seen there's a Netgear DG834GT in Comet, so I'll pop in there tomorrow (save waiting a few extra days for postage as I can't use the PS3, Wii or downstairs PC without wireless).
Good try Hmmm...! I think freeola should send you one to review and write a tech guide for.
The 2 I tried were both Belkin Routers (because they were the only ones available on short notice and could be returned if they didn't work). The G router didn't even connect to my Ethernet whenever the ADSL cable was plugged in (light just went off when the ADSL light because stable) and the second worked up until connecting to Freeola, all the settings were correct so don't know what it could be.

Also one of your original posts where we 'discussed' your line stats (high attenuation = long line) might be worth re-visiting.
As I've mentioned, in my experience on a long line then the choice of router chipset (i.e. Broadcom) is VERY important and has transformed my line!
Pretty GUI's, etc. don't matter if the router can't hang on to your connection...
I'm not familiar with Freeola's Phillips router but if they would like to send one to me (FOC!) as a reward for all my techie attempts around here, then I would be more than happy to test and report back for them :¬)
NB. My InstantPro site is currently 1st on Google for router choice freeola ;¬)
