This is the thread for general chat.

Tell us how your day was, say hello or just introduce yourself if you're new to the site.

Both would/could be good.
I said 'post' as the one before mine made me think...!

Having a 'thanks' & 'thanked' option for posts also works well on other forums I use.

Just played Splinter Cell Conviction. Was quite good. Still no Hitman game (seriously looking forward to the next installment) but it was ok. The AI are as dumb as ever, but the best thing about Tom Clancy games is finding the route to your enemy :)

This kind of thing is picked up by our Support team pretty sharpish, so focusing on the negative could make people just feel bad about the whole thing. On the other hand, positively marking messages could be a good thing for making people feel happy and like you say:

It could be, but the benefits are few and far between. What about social media, who uses the likes of Twitter, Facebook, Delicious etc? And who actually talks about websites on those sites?

I'd imagine individual messages, a bit like YouTube feedback, a number of negative responses (thumbs down) and the message gets, maybe optionally, hidden from view, therefore ensuring that spam and stuff doesn't clog up threads like this one. Obviously, that sort of thing has to be moderated so people don't go around making a number of accounts just to remove posts of people they don't like.

I guess with the positive responses, if used in times of great discussion and points (as opposed to just positively marking everything that makes sense and is on topic), could be a way of flagging GAD-worthy chatting :P

It would be nice to have a 'post rating system' so users could 'vote' on a post. A thumbs up/down type thing :¬)
