Conversely I've never really been a fan of SOAD, the type of singing got on my nerves. Can undertand the appeal but it's not for me.

SOTD helped me out in college, those IT lessons were so much better with "Sugar....Honey......" And aerials??? Who wouldn't have to go silent and stare into space when that comes on?

So many others, so little webspace

Dragonforce I got into later, when my mate took me to see them play in London. I loved it for a while, and had nothing but them on my playlist.... well except for "Eagleheart" by Stratovarius... but they are more or less the same :D

Talking of disapointment, imagine what it was like actually feeling like I'd made a mistake by leaving the NME Tent (Futureheads were loving it!!) to go see Iron Maiden on the main stage???

So shocked by how bad they were I almost went home...

Never been a fan of Dragonforce TBH.Love SOAD's music but they were shockingly bad when I saw them live a few years ago.It was just before they went off on their ''infinite hiatus''.Daron and Serj hardly even seemed to acknowledge each other on stage. It was just horrible and as if they really couldn't be bothered,I was honestly really bored.I was gutted as I'd waited ages (and paid top money) to see them. In Flames were absolutely fantastic at last years Taste Of Chaos and are one the very best metal acts out there IMO.Although they have been around forever they still seem to disappear under many peoples radar for some reason ?

Oh, and I grew up with strong guitar based rock from the likes of Steve Vai along with decent blues guitar work from Clapton, Yardbirds (my dad was a big fan back when they were starting out) and Zepplin.

Morning all.

Sonic Firestorm was probably the best of the 3, but Inhuman Rampage has some great songs. Not everything is generic, but on first listen I can see where you might think that. But listen to Trail of Broken Hearts, as near to a ballad as they'll ever get and Cry for Eternity and they show a different side.

Yes, it's probably their most commercial album, most bands 3rd albums tend to be like that, but for me it's still very listenable.

The 4th album should be interesting and Apparently sounds quite different with a new frontman in charge of the vocals. Need to hear it.

A little Googling reveals the song on NHL10 to which you refer is 'Heroes Of Our Time'. I hadn't listened to anything off their newest album, but I have just listened to it now on Youtube and you're right, it does have an uncanny resemblance to Through The Fire and Flames. Their third album suddenly started to sound generic; most of the songs on there are indistinct and favour flashiness over music, but I still maintain that the first two are great and well written (and a bit more varied)! Totally cheesy though.

I've never enjoyed them. I originally got sucked by TTF&F because of Guitar Hero. Then I heard one of their songs on NHL 10; it sounded exactly the same! (despite the fact it was a different song!) And if that effects pedal broke, Herman Li would sound even more dreadful than he already does ;)

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
