Anybody have anything planned for today? For me, it's work and then report writing. This one is going to take some time :(
Granted, that chap was over the top in believing - there are, as you have provided, better pictures out there. I still stand by the fact that the evidence will only ever be valid to those that obtained it. Only the person who took/saw/recorded/felt/experienced the incidents that happened will only truly be able to decide whether or not something is indeed paranormal. My recent investigation in Bodmin we experienced lots of localised knocks - caught them on audio and on video - however, as people viewing them weren't there and could see where they were coming from like we could, they will literally say it was one of us. Evidence in this field more for strengthening belief than proving anything.
It is my hobby (although, due to the amount of work I put into it, it now feels like my job...) is to go to places and work out as many reasons I can for the phenomena that is happening - with normal and paranormal suggestions. I then conclude what I myself feel it was - (shadow creatures, if they are real, cause corner-of-the-eye phenomena, so seeing a shadow materialise in your central vision either means you saw something materialise, or you need to visit my eye clinic pronto...) Here is an example of my reports:

I just find Derren's show weak in basing the entire episode on the work of one person/group. Like with the medium - he was as dodgy as you like, so all mediums must be fraudulent because of Derren's show on this one? Sorry that just doesn't cut it with me.
[S]*Not a rant, just trying to explain my opinions on his show...
**Apologies for the orbs in Sarah's gallery - I tend to think they are dust, insects or pollen, but other members of the team are investigating them!
Heard bad things about REC2, but I'll watch it when it appears on TV. Too much else to watch to worry about more films!
How depressing is the 360 Arcade thing? Sounded like a great idea but swamped with intellivision and Atari games and a bit limited (not to mention expensive). Hopefully MS realise this and give us something more recent (thinking some Taito classics and newer Atari stuff) as well as dropping prices or doing bundles.

Surprised you thought that TBH mate.I loved REC but thought its sequel was an extremely lame effort.Didn't think it had any of the atmosphere or tension of the original and thought the way they brought a certain character back was totally laughable.Letdown of the year for me so far :(

I have to disagree with this. I watched the Derren Brown series because I also have an interest in the paranormal and inexplicable (doesn't everyone?) but ultimately I'm a sceptic too because I've never seen any convincing evidence for it. If Derren had not gone in there looking for more mundane explanations to the evidence he was presented with then had he reached a positive conclusion it simply wouldn't have been very trustworthy. I wouldn't watch Derek Acorah Investigates Water Dowsing for example, because I just don't think he'd be objective.
Most of the arguments in favour of these things tend to rely on begging the question (assuming as truth what your argument aims to prove); as Derren pointed out last night, the evidence was only convincing if you already believed in ghosts. If you didn't then there were more likely explanations. And introducing a ghost sort of explains away a lot of things without really providing much information.
I thought the photos were pretty poor. There are some much better examples of ghostly faces elsewhere, I particularly like this one (there are some other photos on this blog too, FWIW Richard Wiseman had a brief appearance in the Joe Power the medium episode).
I'm not really sold on EVP either. Electronics are inherently noisy and apophenia kicks in there as well. I can hear strange noises if I plug my computer speakers into the front of my computer. Is it a ghost? no it's just my dvd drive. It's easy to hear English in pseudorandom sounds as evidenced by the number of songs played backwards on youtube. However if you do have some genuinely clear examples it would be interesting to hear them, are they online anywhere?
Argh, long post

Always a plus I have found! Unfortunately all I have here is the back of WH's head :(
Went well, just training today and tomorrow and have reduced hours for these days, but i think i will enjoy it and there a couple of fit birds starting and working which is such a bonus lol

Although Lou Gentile isn't a ghost hunter...he was a demonologist... And a solitary person he focused on, rather than the true nature of our field.
Yeah, it was alright. I find Derren tricky to watch because although he has a point on most things, he is also too skeptical to actually open his mind to it working. Like the EVP testing - we are told not to use the voice activated ones as they produce too much static - my teammates have caught some much clearer than that and that is midway through just leaving the recorder somewhere.
The photos, well pareidola is a powerful thing (the brain's instant face-recognition software as it were...) so most can be put down to that. But some I have seen really baffle.
My own conclusion is that you will never physically get a piece of evidence that will prove to the world of the paranormal. However, witnessing the events yourself and then having some sort of recording of it (like my recent trip to Bodmin and the knocks we got on command) will be enough to prove to yourself at least.
